A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
.....what is my reward? Being paid minimum wage then getting fired for not being "productive" enough! Never mind the fact that a huge portion of the docs I typed were difficult ESLs or mushmouthed docs who would not open their mouths for the life of them! Never mind that I that I had to track down doctors that I was unfamiliar with and that the docs did not spell to make sure the correct ones got a copy. Never mind the fact that I actually cared enough to go back and relisten numerous times in order not to leave a blank even though I knew it was going to cost me. Never mind that I had to find the patient's demographics when the doc did not put them in. Never mind the fact that I had actually TOLD my lead that with the quality of dictations I was getting there was no way I was going to meet minimum line requirements. Never mind the fact that you only gave me two and a half months to learn 70+ doctors and their different ways of dictating and saying things.
Somehow the ones who supervise medical transcriptionists have forgotten that medical transcription is not just a typing job. It requires a lot of training.
I am off my soapbox now. There may well be those who dislike this post; that is your prerogative. I am just fed up and raw with emotion right now from just getting fired today.
