I quit MM after 10 years, was hired... - sm
Posted: Jun 11, 2013
within a week. I started last night and I quit last night. The trainer was in INDIA, and her accent was so thick I could not understand ANYTHING she was saying. I mean I was lucky to hear every 10th word, not kidding. My husband came in the room and heard her and asked me to quit. I wanted to give it another try but, after a good night's sleep, I am moving on. Is this what we are getting now in this industry? Goodness, I pray not. She was actually yelling at me at one point, saying my name over and over and over not giving me time to react, really ugly, nasty. As a professional MT, I have never been treated that way. I am getting ready to send my hiring person for that job an email and see what happens. Either way, I won't do this. I think it finally hit me, this profession is gone.

Transcription is taking its final few gasps. I hate to think it's true, but I know it is. So where do we go, those of us over 50 with medical transcription being our only real skill? We can stay with MModal til they kick us to the curb, but as it stands, we're underpaid and undervalued. My husband encourages me to look for another transcription job, but experiences like yours make me very hesitant to try. Better the devil you know.
Had an experience similar to yours with another company - nn

I was recently hired by a company that hired me, sent the paperwork and it took a week to get set up, as they were "revamping the software." When I was finally contacted, I found out the tech support person/trainer was Indian, as was the rest of anyone else I came in contact with (although they were pretty easy to understand). The person that I had initial contact with kept asking me how familiar I was with "Texas accents." I proceeded to tell him that I had over 30 years of experience as an MT, and that it should not be a problem. These were some of the WORST dictators I ever had. I contacted the CEO of the company, who informed me that the company had over 1,000 employess -- yes in India, not in the states. I posted about this company on the company board, and later, got an email from someone who has been working there for 5 years adn she explained that she had talked to the owner after he had asked her what might possibly attract US MT's to that particular company. Weekly pay and DD were 2 things that were mentioned. They provided the weekly pay, which came VERY promptly, but as of yet, no DD.
To make a long story short, the dictators on this account were HORIBLE!!!! i also began to question whether 2 companies may have merged (as this company was located in Las Vegas, but had a Los Angeles phone number). I felt I was being deceived, and said that in an email and as a result, I was terminated as an IC.

exact same thing. Unreal, huh?! Well, good luck to you.
You should deal with our IT department at MM. - I was yelled at and belittled.

I wanted to tell him off badly, but just hung up. He kept insisting he was right and I could get in a system and change the password, but guess what?? I CANNOT CHANGE THE PASSWORD. Tried to tell him, but he yelled at me and treated me like I was 5 years old.
Had enough of the so called conversation and hung up. I reported him.
I haven't been able to change a PW at Mmodal - L&L

for years now with IT help, but my experience with IT has been fine. Only problem, accents. I had this fellow from Florida telling me to put in "faav." Guess what, it's a number between 4 and 6.

I just wanted to say I loved MModal when it was MedQuist. However, I know for a fact they are trying to get rid of employees because of lack of work and it's cheaper to higher new people. At least at Nuance they train you on their audit system and have consistency about what is an error. Their platforms are not as good, but they are fair and train you on how many points for each type of error. Also, you don't automatically get a major or even critical error for a typo, and they readily admit they make errors and have a system in place for you to contest an audit you feel is not correct. Furthermore, all MModal cares about is beating Nuance. They can dream on. It will never happen! I hope the high and mighty at that company read this cause all the firings and layoffs are going to bite them back in a big way! Thanks for wasting 4 years of my life and then treating me like I was nothing. You deserve what's coming!

Just Quit After 3-1/2 Years Dec 16, 2012I started with WebMedx 3-1/2 years ago and things were going quite well. Nuance made all their glorious changes effective in January and things have deteriorated to the point I just could not take another day. As for my complaints about them, just pick one -- it's probably on my list. To those of you who feel Nuance is the worst place you've ever worked for, I'm right there with you and that's after 35 years transcription experience. To those of you who actually like wor ...
Is InScribe LLC, Kentucky Changing; Anyone Recently Apply Or Been Hired Who Has Years Of Experience; May 11, 2011Okay, I know InScribe LLC (Kentucky) has been on the Boards multiple times (at least monthly, if not weekly, it seems), but I just noticed they have a “Premium” ad at the top of the Job Seeker’s Board. I guess these “Featured Listings” are not free, as the other listings are.
If I remember correctly, most of the posts on the Boards have been by Newbies, because InScribe evidently is one of the few MTSOs that hire new graduates.
However, it appear ...

After Years And Years Of Being IC, Obtained Employee Status At A Co. Sm Nov 26, 2012Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore.
The reason I thought this was because at the interview and in their professional company emails, they use all the "real job" words: Shift, scheduled hours, overtime, PTO, benefits, etc. I felt relieved to finally have a "job."
What a big bunch of BS! I was "hired" ...
3 Years. Question: How Many More Years Do You Plan To Be An MT/editor? Dec 20, 2013There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? Will the industry be forced out of offshoring because of taxes? Will there be a need even for editors if VR gets better? These are all unanswered questions, but my question is, what ...
I Worked For M*Modal A Couple Of Years Ago Or So And I Worked For Medquist Several Years Ago. Aug 08, 2014Lately, I've been getting legal notices mailed to my home from I believe the east coast somewhere informing me of a class action lawsuit against M*Modal and inviting me to joint if I have a claim. I don't think I have a claim, but then again with all the shady practices in this business, I'm not so sure. I'm just curious what the heck is going on. Anyone care to give me the lowdown? ...
Will I Get Hired? Sep 06, 2010I have a question for all MedQuist MTs . . .
I called them and was told that I qualified and passed MedQuist's test. That was about a week ago. I was told that I am still being "considered" and "reviewed." One recruiter told me that it would just be a matter of time before they could get through all of the paperwork. Another recruiter simply told me my file was still being "reviewed." What does this mean? Does MedQuist always offer jobs to those that pass their testing? Or is it possible t ...
Just Got Hired! Sep 27, 2011I am told that I just got hired by Nuance. Am interested in what people have to say about the company. I have read that the first part of this month, they were running out of work. If so, do they really need me?
Also, am interested in insurance costs?
Some straight answers would be most appreciated.
Thanks,

Does Anyone Ever Get Hired....? May 30, 2012Does anyone ever get hired from these companies who are continually posting help wanted ads?!?!? I have applied to at least 15 companies posting ads for help only to sit here waiting for at least 5 weeks, so far, for an answer to any for which I applied! I have been a medical transcriptionist for over 20 years as well as a QA worker for over 5 years. My resume is on par with what I consider to be some of the best, yet I never receive an answer to my applications. I realiz ...
Too Old To Get Hired? Jul 26, 2013Should I stop saying I have 31 years of experience as a transcriptionist? I try not to date myself by putting dates on my resume, like when I graduated. I have applied everywhere, outside the house and inside. I have attended resume counseling at the career center, nobody is interested in helping me pay for any schooling, they change the s ...

You All Have Been Hired To Put Yourselves Out Of A Job. Sep 16, 2014You are helping the devil train the gatekeepers of Hades!
Especially if you are an acquisition employee, you must understand your purpose is to train the front-end voice wreck for the clinic or hospital that sold your soul. They off-shore EVERYTHING left over as soon as possible, so being out of work is a condition you should expect as long as you continue to work for the very people the hospital just sold you to.

Anyone Hired? Apr 24, 2015All the ads on the job seeker's board have hundreds and even thousands of responses. Does anyone ever really get hired? One of the ads wants someone to start "within the next hour," and that was a few days ago and it now has hundreds of responses. Why is that ad still even posted? Only rarely does a company take its ad down or post a message when positions are filled. Do the other companies just not care? Can it be that all those hundreds and thousands of ...

Newly Hired MT Aug 31, 2010Hello,
I am new to the forum and recently hired as an at-home MT. It has been a year since I completed college MT courses at a tech center. The employer, saw my resume online.
I have a p/t job that I've had for 2 years in addition to the MT job. Both jobs, are flex in hours, although the MT employer would like full-time. It pays 8 cents for every 60 characters. I would really love to drop the p/t job because it miserable in many ways. Can someone break the pay down in other terms? W ...
Hired But Forgotten Aug 25, 2011I was hired for my first transcription position and filled out the paperwork Aug 4th. I emailed HR again yesterday (Aug. 24th) with no response. They had been ver ...
How Much MT Experience Is Too Much To Get You Hired? Nov 15, 2011I spent last week typing test dictations for transcription jobs. After typing five tests today for one company and then 3 more for another company I am wondering why I haven't been called back on any of these jobs. I have heard of having too little experience, but is there such a thing has having too much experience that a company is afraid to hire you because they think you will demand to be paid too much. Even though I have 10+ years experience I am willing to take 7 cpl just so that I c ...

Why Didn't I Get Hired? Aug 27, 2012I have been a MT for 30 yrs. I had to stop working 4 yrs ago due to health issues, then finally had 2 surgeries which pretty much took care of the problem. While I was out on disability I got a grant, went back to an AHDI approved University and took refresher courses in MT fulltime for a year. Now, I'm ready to get back to work. I submitted a resume to M-Modal last week and just read they are not considering me. Is there a way to find out why? I'm a good transcriptionist and I want to ...
What Are My Chances Of Getting Hired Anywhere Aug 31, 2012I have two years experience but my experience is not recent. I did not graduate from a school or course, rather, I was trained by an MTE and by someone who had a general practice that they typed for. Eventually I was able to take over the general practice but had to give it up because my husband's health was critical. I would like very much to get back to MT work but the ads I'm seeing are not conducive to me thinking I'm going to get hired......
