What are my chances of getting hired anywhere - cera

I have two years experience but my experience is not recent. I did not graduate from a school or course, rather, I was trained by an MTE and by someone who had a general practice that they typed for. Eventually I was able to take over the general practice but had to give it up because my husband's health was critical. I would like very much to get back to MT work but the ads I'm seeing are not conducive to me thinking I'm going to get hired......

What y'all think?

Thanks for taking time to reply. My main concern is that most of the ads I see specify "recent experience" and I just didn't know if they'd even look at me. I'll just plug away and see what happens.

I have a friend who had no MT schooling. She had worked in a doctor's office. She has a child with special needs. And, she got work at home as an MT. How did she do it? She made flyers that included her resume, her experience, her abilities, and what she was willing to do. (Made is sound good.) She sent out over 100 flyers to doctors' and lawyers' offices. One responded, and it was a perfect fit.
It's a viable option and well worth a try. IMHO

I worked for a smaller MTSO when I got laid off way back when, and the other MTs that worked for her did not have that much experience or formal training (except some of my classmates she hired), yet she paid very well, much more than the nationals, and she had time and willingness to train. Also, you can network at the local AHDI chapters. A lot of members have their own accounts and are willing to mentor a bit if needed.

The OP s inquiring about obtaining work. I was not speaking about AHDI in general but networking there to obtain work.

I am sorry you feel AHDI has nothing to offer newbies or other people, but I learned quite a bit at their workshops, and my clients appreciate me following a guideline as to our profession and work. I was offered several jobs and clients of my own at our local chapter, although I did not take these positions, as I was already working elsewhere. I can say I was able to hone my skills and network with other MTs and MTSOs at the workshops and meetings, although I am too disabled to attend now. With only 1-1/2 years of experience way back when, I provided transcription services to 5 facilities and made over $10,000-$12,000 per month just on my transcription alone, and I was undergoing numerous and medical issues at that time, so I can definitely say I benefited from this organization. I am still faring better than most.

I have a question for all MedQuist MTs . . . I called them and was told that I qualified and passed MedQuist's test. That was about a week ago. Does anyone ever get hired from these companies who are continually posting help wanted ads?!?!? I have applied to at least 15 companies posting ads for help only to sit here waiting for at least 5 weeks, so far, for an answer to any for which I applied! Hello, I am new to the forum and recently hired as an at-home MT. It has been a year since I completed college MT courses at a tech center. The employer, saw my resume online. I have been a MT for 30 yrs. I had to stop working 4 yrs ago due to health issues, then finally had 2 surgeries which pretty much took care of the problem.
