Just Quit After 3-1/2 Years
Dec 16, 2012

I started with WebMedx 3-1/2 years ago and things were going quite well. Nuance made all their glorious changes effective in January and things have deteriorated to the point I just could not take another day. As for my complaints about them, just pick one -- it's probably on my list. To those of you who feel Nuance is the worst place you've ever worked for, I'm right there with you and that's after 35 years transcription experience. To those of you who actually like wor ...

I Quit MM After 10 Years, Was Hired...
Jun 11, 2013

within a week.  I started last night and I quit last night.  The trainer was in INDIA, and her accent was so thick I could not understand ANYTHING she was saying.  I mean I was lucky to hear every 10th word, not kidding.  My husband came in the room and heard her and asked me to quit.  I wanted to give it another try but, after a good night's sleep, I am moving on.  Is this what we are getting now in this industry?  Goodness, I pray not.&nbs ...

2005/2006 MedQuist
Jan 19, 2011

Is there anywhere on the internet or other resources anyone knows about, where I could find info about MedQuist in 2005 and 2006.  I'm looking for their "Rewards" plan that was implimented at that time, and how and why that affected transcriptionists' pay to decrease. (past employee looking for this info for personal reasons to prove a big point) Thanks ...

She Was First Discovered To Have Cancer Metastatic From Her Breast In 2006
Jan 20, 2010

I will type exactly as said. I am unsure how to type.   She states she was first discovered to have cancer metastatic from her breast in 2006, and it has really metastasized quite extensively to her pelvis to the lumbar vertebrae L1 2   2 to 3 and L4 5 and also her right proximal femur and femoral neck. TIA. ...

Updating Microsoft Word 2003 To 2006
May 20, 2011

I need to update Microsoft word 2003 to 2006.  When I do this I was told I need to take 2003 out.  My husband says it should not delete anything in 2003 since it is in My documents.  Do you think I will loose what is in 2003 or does it just override it?  I have important stuff I don't want to loose.   Hope I am explaining this correctly. ...

After Years And Years Of Being IC, Obtained Employee Status At A Co. Sm
Nov 26, 2012

Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore. The reason I thought this was because at the interview and in their professional company emails, they use all the "real job" words:  Shift, scheduled hours, overtime, PTO, benefits, etc.  I felt relieved to finally have a "job." What a big bunch of BS! I was "hired" ...

3 Years. Question: How Many More Years Do You Plan To Be An MT/editor?
Dec 20, 2013

There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? Will the industry be forced out of offshoring because of taxes? Will there be a need even for editors if VR gets better? These are all unanswered questions, but my question is, what ...

Pay Day October 9th For Transcend?
Oct 05, 2012

I work for Transcend and we are scheduled to be paid October 9th, but Monday, October 8th is Columbus Day and a federal holiday which means banks are closed.  So will this push pay day up to Wednesday the 10th?  I haven't worked here very long and wanted to know.  Just wonder if the holiday would effect the pay date?   ...

Big News In October??
Jun 23, 2014

I hadn't heard much about this, but with all the problems they are having hiring and training, offering bonuses to sign on, etc.  maybe (I might be dreaming) the changes will be for once to our benefit.  Plan on sticking it out to see for sure.  Call me a fool or an optimist --we will see which in October. ...

October Post
Nov 06, 2014

I read/responded to an October post, and can't find it.  Down at the bottom of the main board are places to click for previous months, but not October, and the page only goes so far.  I cannot find anything to click for next page.  Is that stupid, or what?  Thanks ...

The Big News In October, I Have A Guess
Jun 20, 2014

Remember an earlier poster said they had heard that supposedly there was going to be "big news" in October or some such that would help MTs make better production or more money somehow? Some folks were leery, hypothesizing that any change at Nuance usually means bad news for MTs.  This came to me in the middle of the night last night so it is likely off the wall. But, I think everyone will be required to clock in and out each time they leave the keyboard for any reason. In other words, no ...

Has Anyone Received Q4 Bonus This October 31st?
Nov 02, 2013

Has anyone received the promised Q4 bonus for those who qualified (I think October 31st is the date I read on an old email). I was wondering because last quarter I did receive a little bonus and my stats have not really changed much for this quarter but I haven't received any email or any news if the bonus has been paid for this quarter.   Thanks. ...

Pack-a-day
Jul 05, 2012

Any dr. I transcribe for always says "pack-a-day" even if it's plural.  I.e., "She is a two pack-a-day smoker for twenty years."  I've always changed it to "packs-a-day."  I'm curious if you think I'm right, or if I should transcribe verbatum.  Thanks.  ...

Article In October's Issue Of Reader's Digest....
Sep 24, 2010

Reader's Digest, October issue, has an article based on physicians, nurses and pharmacists sharing their mistakes which caused fatal incidences.  It could be a good time to write in a response on what is happening with the medical records too.  You know, the errors made with voice recognition, lousy dictation either because of doctors, equipment or environment, and the fact that we are required to have 98% accuracy in transcribing reports, not to mention the off shoring.... ...

S/l Haydon Pack??
Nov 05, 2009

It's a vaginal hysterectomy. Here's the whole context: A weighted vaginal speculum was inserted. A single double-toothed tenaculum placed on the cervix. Then, a colpotomy incision was made with curved scissors. Upon entering into the cul-de-sac, a _____ pack was inserted, and a Heaney retractor put in place. Haydon pack? Haden pack? Google is NOT my friend today.... ...

Might As Well Pack My Bags
Jul 19, 2013

I have gotten so many Major errors today that it has completely demoralized me.  Never in my life have I been marked off for some of these things and have had my percentage drop to below 98%.  I have always been over 99% and now am being marked off for commas not put in (places that I have never ever placed them before) and capitalizing words in sentences that have never been marked off before but now they are saying that if I can substitute a noun for them they need to be capitalized. ...

I Worked For M*Modal A Couple Of Years Ago Or So And I Worked For Medquist Several Years Ago.
Aug 08, 2014

Lately, I've been getting legal notices mailed to my home from I believe the east coast somewhere informing me of a class action lawsuit against M*Modal and inviting me to joint if I have a claim.  I don't think I have a claim, but then again with all the shady practices in this business, I'm not so sure.  I'm just curious what the heck is going on. Anyone care to give me the lowdown? ...
