How do they learn to write that way? - with all those words

that say nothing? I need to learn how to do that. Can anyone explain why we have 2 different speech engines (that's what I gather from the email anyway, but I'm only a college graduate). Two engines are better than one?

Now its "MModal Fluency for Transcription Editor" instead of DocQscribe?

There is nothing shorter they could come up with?

The picture of the new color palette they included of Fluency in my opinion looks gross. Like if I stepped in a puddle of Fluency, I might throw my shoes away just to be safe. Is it chemical smoke? Some kind of liquid fuel? Blood? I know of nothing good that behaves like a vapor and is brownish red in color. My brain associates that with dangerous chemicals.

Since it's named Fluency, go with blue for water. Flu in fluency, flu in fluid, both have similar ideas of smoothness, ease and gentle transition. Let that roll into the subconscious of the viewer.

The program will still be garbage, but it's too late to uncook that meal. I still get a kick out of the name anyway. Fluency. Neither the computer nor the doctor are fluent in anything.

She said she would do another audit in a couple of weeks at some point and that's all the news I got. I don't know if they will put me on 100% QA then or give me a verbal warning or intensive coaching.

I hope it's not intensive coaching, because I think she's a nice woman and I don't want to make her angry or disappoint her when I think her advice is ridiculous. Not her fault.

I have my fingers on the keys, feet on the pedal, headphones on the ears, eyes on the screen and brain busy deciphering the whole mess. I think I'm remembering everything.

Unfortunately, I have too much time on my hands lately. Last month I got kicked out of my house. I'm living with friends and working in a cabin (okay, maybe it's a shed, but if I call it a cabin it sounds nicer) in the woods. The friend I'm staying with doesn't have T.V. and I'm in serious withdrawals. Plus, I only have power and room enough for my little laptop and internet connection. My whole day involves chores, work, sleeping, reading books, surfing the web, posting on MTStars and going to sleep. Then I wake up and do the same again. It's gotten old, fast:(

It's all I know how to cook (unless you count microwaveables, which I do). Luckily, it's my favorite food. Thanks for the offer though! Luckily, being homeless, but not jobless (yet) is saving me fistfuls of money, which is always nice. I'm doing it mainly to save money and get a break from landlords. Three bad experiences in a row burned me out on renting for a little while.

I'm also getting really tired of all the corporate-speak in job ads. (I've been looking out of MT.) Their cookie-cutter descriptions of what your duties would be in that job are so vague. "Self starter". "Core values". "Urgency-driven". BLAH!

They probably keep a thesarus by them and when they can - use 3 words in place of 1, thats what they do nm

VP always sticks "lower" onto the abdomen exam. Have to delete it from abdomen and add it to the PE subheading "Lower Extremities." There is no other way to edit it, everybody has to edit it this way. But SR keeps getting it wrong. We all need to have a couple of these examples ready for when Phil the IT guy says it is US editing wrong that causes the program not to learn. Or if you abbreviation says it is everyone with different editing styles causing the VR fiasco. ...

Hmmm this job has been "discarded" a few times. Couple of jobs have been "discarded" by the same person. "Discarded" happens when you log out. Can also see what has been "abandoned", funny, the same names keep showing up. Truth be told, these dictators they are dumping are not all that bad. It's almost 2 months now on Escript and I'm still straight transcribing more than VR. I can see a lot of ready for editing reports but I hardly get any, and not getting my lines either. Some days, I only get 2 short VR reports. I'm in a really foul mood lately because of it. I have never used anything but QuickCorrect and now AutoCorrect as an expander along with AutoText for larger saves. I'm thinking I need/want to learn Instant Text now. Is it hard to learn? Are there any MTs on the board that are currently using, have used Meditech? Years ago I was told Meditech is a horror to learn and use, very slow and cumbersome jumping screen to screen before actually typing anything. Does this still hold true? Has it been improved? Hi, I been working full time in acute care as an IC now for 7 years and I have been noticing the only jobs for transcriptionists left in hospitals or labs is pathology, sometimes but rarely radiology. It used to be you could file a ticket regarding a word, format or phrase and IT would fix it. Now, all I get is an email stating that the speech engine will learn it from all the MTs' corrections. I even presented them with proof MTs were editing a particular item correctly, and I got the same email! With that particular email, I was told to contact my TSM if there was still that problem. ...

I used to be an office temp back in the '80s before I was an MT. Anyone know best and cheapest way to learn the new office software? On line? Through an agency? I used to love temping. You stay out of the office politics and you are always offered a job (because I worked hard.) That was good for my ego. Last thing I remember using was WordPerfect 5.1, back in the dinosaur age. I guess I am just spoiled that I used to work for a great company, and, of course, it was gobbled up because of their software and the transcription "had" to go with it. After about 3 years, they finally did away with the small transcription part. Each year we received a 500 dollar bonus for longevity.
