A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
I guess I am just spoiled that I used to work for a great company, and, of course, it was gobbled up because of their software and the transcription "had" to go with it. After about 3 years, they finally did away with the small transcription part. Each year we received a 500 dollar bonus for longevity. The line rates were great, the insurance was excellent and we got merit raises each year. If we had to work OT our line rates was one and a half times what our line rate was, so heck yeah! Count me in on this OT.
Fast forward and now here I am with a company, who makes it mandatory for OT, and if you work it your lines go into your total production lines and then whatever you get for a dollar amount for PTO is HALF of what that is for the hours of overtime you work. If you add this up against what you would make if it were paid one and half times your LINE rate it is significantly less. If I made 10 dollars an for when I took my pto, then I would only get 5.00 for the hours of OT I worked. This just sickens me, and I really hate to be a negative person, but I have been knocking myself out for this OT to make extra cash for the holidays and when I did the math I was asounded at what I was actually sickened at how much I would have made if I had been paid one and a half times my line rate. :( So, I worked 13 hours in over time in one week and at 5x13 is only 65 dollars. I produced 2500 lines, so if I were being paid one and half times my lines then I would have made 262.50. HUGE difference! :( Makes me so sick.
Thanks for listening :(
