That you can't work on any computer besides a Medquist computer? I don't get along my CCM. We don't like each other. I wanted to load my programs on my laptop so I could work when I was away from home, and I was told that was not possible. I said I had done it in the past. I was told, not anymore. Support backed him on it.
But here lately I have heard people talking about working at Starbucks!!!! That even during training they were told they could work anywhere.
I don't know why but this issue has really got me angry!!!!! Whats true for one of us, should be true for all of us.
I work on my own computer - they gave me the option

[ In Reply To ..]I think the problem with doing transcription on a laptop out in public would be that if it were lost or stolen someone would have access to the information. I don't think I'd want to be transcribing at Starbucks with people coming and going while I am trying to work! I've read notes from many voicing concerns about records being sent overseas and information falling into the wrong hands; it seems we all need to be a little more mindful of safeguarding that information. I don't know Medquist's policy but it would seem that the same rules should apply to all. If they've changed recently it could be a confidentiality issue. I don't work for them, just guessing.

[ In Reply To ..]I think the reason you were told NOT ANYMORE is becaue there is no HIPPA. It is illegal to use any wireless electronic devices for dictation and/or
transcription. Since we handle private confidential records that is why it can not be done as someone else could pick up the report. I work from home at the hospital here in town and we are not even allowed to have a computer to print out anything attached to our computer. It was that way with one of the companies I worked for, I think Transcend or Transolutioins.
Hope this sheds some light on your problem. If you company has someone for HIPPA you might want to talk to them.

Its sad really that your CCM can decide what perks you can and cannot get, and even more sad is that support just lies down and does what it is told rather than what is right. Some people use their position as a tool to make others lives miserable.

I have another computer in the house, so Road Runner, after talking to Medquist Support, very reluctantly hooked up another modem. They really did not want to hook up another modem and there is an extra monthly charge for that.

The only way they approve it, if they know you are using one, is that it NEVER leave the house, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of using a laptop unless you don't want to be tied down to a single working space. That is so it is less likely to be stolen, less likely that someone will see confidential information.
Like I said before, it obviously depends on who you talk to - And who your CCM is

We were told recently a doctor was complaining about the quality of our reports. I thought that strange as he has no accent and speaks very clearly. I just did a report of his and his complaints are....do not use 1, 2, 3, etc., spell out one, two, three, etc.., do not leave off THE patient and just type patient at the beginning of a sentence..do not leave off LABORATORY IS AS FOLLOWS and just type LABORATORY, type what I said.
