New to ASR/Told had to switch to ME by 07/01 - alphamt

I am sweating this out, as everyone else has, and it is not working for me. The rules are too vague, the training insufficient, and I am struggling with doing whatever I can to get through the report and trying to correct "correctly" - whatever way that really is, there is no explanation. I don't know when to use F11.
I gave ASR a 4-month try 4-5 (?) years ago when it first was implemented, and see similar non-recognition issues, similar heading issues, and probably I am guessing that when I send this info to support it will be similarly not resolved.
1) Should I sign up for an ASR meeting to get help from MTs and not soups.
2) Can I make a living at this or should I look for another job to supplement or another FT job. My pay is already dipping so low that my mortgage will take 2 checks to make.
) Is there a location on the MQ website for MT/ME requirements. I thought it was 60% of pay, but see today someone mentioning 40% of LPH for MT!

[ In Reply To ..]I have been doing this since the beginning. No, you will not make as much money as typing it, ever. It is 60% rate of typing. I would do as many ASR classes as you can.
The corrections will never be made by reporting them to support.
It is what it is. USE SHORTCUTS. That has been my biggest lifesaver.

[ In Reply To ..]Every single problem I have reported with ASR has been fixed in a reasonable amount of time, ASR does learn when ALL the MTs working on it correct properly and use skip markers properly, I can edit twice as much work as I can type, I have used F11 once in 3 years, and I take every refresher course offered to me. I make a very decent living with MQ and have since I started 3-1/2 years ago, even with the lower ASR rate because I can produce more.
No I am not management. Yes I am just an MT.

[ In Reply To ..]How can you possibly make as much money being an ME and you did being an MT? The pay is cut down to 5 cents a line instead of 8.5 cents a line, made a huge difference for me. I can type faster than I can edit and I was hired to be an MT not an ME and I am very upset about this.

[ In Reply To ..]You are definitely one of the luckier ones. I fight constantly with ASR garbage...correcting things like "patient sunken sapien." I kid you not! That is exactly what ASR put on a report when it was clearly dictated "patient has no history of smoking." As for getting things fixed and ASR learning, again, you are very fortunate. I've put redunant markers around a phrase that a certain MD dictates at least a thousand times since November when I transferred to this account...and ASR has yet to get it right. Sent countless emails to Support for fixes...and it may get fixed once, but always reverts back to the same old same old..almost like there is a CD programmed a certain way for a particular dictating physician and when their work comes on it just dumps that CD in. I'm happy for you though. I truly wish there were more success stories.

[ In Reply To ..]ASR learns when MTs all correct the way we were trained to, and everyone on the account has to do so. We have one dictator whose accent is so thick that you can actually only clearly hear and understand about every 4th word and he is one of those dudes that never says the same thing twice, so you would think that ASR would be a disaster with him. At first it was, but with everyone correcting, no shortcuts, his dictation comes through ASR almost perfect. So, ASR learned his language, so to speak.
For issues like removing someone from ASR because they jump around too much or have too many standards, I email my CCM and usually within a week, they are off ASR.
I am sorry you guys have so much trouble with ASR, but for whatever reason it has never been an issue for me and I like doing editing as much as transcribing. And my pay has not changed for the worse (no raises mind you, but that's not surprise with the way things are lately).

100% of MT pay -40% rate reduction for ASR so we are paid at 60% transcription rate.
If you make 10 cpl, you should be paid 6 cpl, which is 40% less pay, but 60% of 10 cpl.

My local account wants to switch from tapes to something similar to Emdat and wants my advice. He has very little dictation and just needs something that he can dictate from any phone, where I can access it from home.
