Any Former DSG People - Still at this place?
Posted: Jul 06, 2013
I'm just curious if any of the DSG victims who were bought out by MM are still with MM. I had quit MM (MQ at the time) years earlier to go with DSG, only to get slammed back into MQ/MM when they bought out DSG. I quit MM after 8 months of the buy-out. It was my goal from day one of the buy-out and I finally succeeded in getting out of MT completely.

but expect to be released soon. The only good thing to come of it was the impetus to leave this dreadful job altogether.
Last May they decided my work was bad, although sm - ex-Q-er

I had discussed things with the QA/QC person? So they were going to put me on full QA. I even proved to them they were counting me down for things I had right. Anyway at 3 cpl for editing and 4 for typing I said I wasn't going to work for that and they would have to fire me.
I did not work for 3 days and instead of firing me, they said they figured I had abandoned my job after 17 years with them as I still worked part time when I was wokring for DSG. So they let me go. When my CCM called to talk to me about it, I wasn't home and so didn't even try again just fired me.
Glad to be gone though. I work for a much better company although it is only editing so I have to work at another job for the money. The Q just has gone downhill for so many years it wiil be obsolete or all in India soon! Too bad. It used to be a good company to work for way back when.

...when I was originally at MQ, after having been there for like 10 years, they started threatening to fire me. It got really stupid when they started the MME thing (I was in the QA Dept at the time), so I quit right as they started that.
So, I go to DSG, I'm happy, they're happy, then MQ (the people who kept threatening to fire me) gave us 1 day notice to accept to work for them or not. At the time, I thought that was very interesting--you're so unhappy with me, then you invite me back???? At the time, I needed the health insurance and that's the only darn thing that kept me there.
I have chosen to be as independent with health insurance so that never again in my life will I be "stuck" with a horrible company just for the health insurance.
Kudos to all of us who finally got out of this gawdawful business. I still come on the boards here to reaffirm that I made a really, really good decision getting out of MT completely.
Being bought out by MM was my kick - in the rear-end to get out of MT-nm

Same here. I left MM after it took over Spheris, went to DSG, ended up with MM again (same old schtick as before) and finally quit MM for good about 8 months ago. Not worth the stress and nasty attitude the convey to their MTs while they drive us into bankruptsy.
Nope, not worth the stress - I think...
[ In Reply To ..]
...the stress is worse for those of us who had left MQ to begin with, then got slammed back in. We had left them for a very, very, very good reason in the first place, only to find ourselves back there.
Gone from MT for good.......
I was with DSG 'til MM bought them out. - s/m

I ended up at DSG when my hospital outsourced all our jobs to them in 2011. Needing to keep my health insurance and being in total shock, I didn't know what else to do. I had never heard much about MTSOs! I started educating myself, and I decided that I could NEVER work for "Medquist" if they bought out DSG. (Heck, I wasn't even that crazy about DSG after having worked for a local hospital for nearly 20 years, but DSG was a dream compared to Medquist/MM or Nuance!) :-D
When I woke up that February day to get the email that MM was our new employer, it was all the motivation I needed to decline MM's job offer. By that point, I had fortunately lined up my own individual health insurance; otherwise, I might have still been trapped, too.
I have to say, it took me QUITE some time to land another job outside of MT, but I finally did...as a pharmacy tech. That wasn't the best fit for me, so I didn't stay with that job. I now work at a medium-sized specialty practice doing medical office work related to their outsourced transcription jobs. It seems to be a good fit for me, and I'm very happy now. I loved doing MT and wish it was like it used to be, but it's not; so I've finally faced the new reality, as working for an MTSO almost crushed my soul.
I often wonder about what's happened with the other former DSG'ers who stayed on with MM. Thanks for starting this thread!
happy for you - way to go

It's nice to read a pleasant comment on this site! I try to be encouraging to everyone in their efforts in life, and I really appreciate your kindness.
BTW, I'm no spring chicken....I'm in my 50s (and not my early 50s, LOL!). There ARE jobs out there where our medical/clerical skills can be used. It's not a walk in the park to find them, and it's an adjustment to move back to in-house work, but it CAN be done.

...that the DSG'ers who had never worked for MQ, didn't bat an eyelash over the takeover and were very hopeful, going in "with an open mind," is how the put it.
It was those of us who had been with MQ already that had no intention of going in with an open mind when we were forced back. We already knew the deal, had no rose-colored glasses on that anything had changed.
I stayed in touch via e-mail with some of the ex-DSG people for a while, but they didn't seem to want to stay back in touch, so I lost track of everyone and I don't e-mail them anymore. I still wonder where they are.

People Skills For Work-at-home People Nov 01, 2010I have been at home working full time for about a year. To All Of You QA People. Feb 08, 2011I know this is a little thing, but after 2 years it is a little annoying. Why do you ask MTs to look up physician names and addresses that are not in the database and to send to QA? You NEVER enter them into the system, not once. I have kept a list of physician names and addresses that we frequently use that are not in the database. I send them to QA every time, requesting that they be entered. I wonder what your response would be if we sent it blank? Just a l ...

Do People Know What An MT Is When You Tell Them? Jan 25, 2013It's crazy to me that people do not even know what medical transcriptionists do most of the time. When people ask me what I do and I tell them transcription, it never fails that they say "What is that?" I tell them that I type what the doctor says and they say, "What does he say?" It's crazy that nobody ever wonders how when they ask for medical records they get neatly typed pages from their doc instead of handwritten chicken scratch. Even when I do explain it, ...

Any ex-DSG people here? After 15 years, I finally had left MQ to go to DSG, then got thrown back into MQ/MM 2 years later when they bought out DSGs medical transcription department. I left MT completely after that fiasco. I trusted no company after that mess and decided leaving MT was the smartest thing to do.
Just wondering if any of you Ex-DSGers are still working for MM, and if not, what are you doing ...
Too Many People In The Pot Here Apr 09, 2014I have a TSM, who I never hear from. Wonder what she does? And then there is the one that sends out daily backlogs that also mean NOTHING to me in the grand scheme of life. Why Are Some QA People So Snippy To Everyone? Jan 26, 2010Some, not all, QA people need to realize our frustrations are just as great as theirs. That's why the report is sent to QA in the first place!!
