Annoyed...but not a big deal, just a conversation starter - Serial stat docs

Anybody else get annoyed at docs who put every job they dictate in as a priority? I mean, everything they dictate, from a 2-month-old death summary to a 3-week-old T&A. I really hate the ones that are so old that the billing numbers have been erased from system. I'm guessing they were threatened with their license being pulled to get their work caught up. That's more important than H&Ps that need to be transferred with a dying patient right?? I know, whine, whine...

One sentence amounting to "see chart for details" but they mark them all STAT and dictate them all together. Can't figure out what's so important about that. LOL

[ In Reply To ..]I was annoyed working in-house in a hospital and even today working at home when a physician put himself above all other physicians on ALL of his reports...like he was more important than anyone else. Why is it all the long-winded physicians who did and do this? In the hospital, we had 1 doc who would dictate all his reports (and I do mean all) the day before Joint Commission came to the hospital, and they had to be done that night, and the outsource company refused to do them, because he was so hard to understand. I was the 1 who did them and spent many a night at the hospital doing them. He would not except any blanks.

[ In Reply To ..]I sent a quick email to my CCM with job number and dictator not thinking it would not do any good, but she emailed me back that she needed this info to confront the client on stat abuse. And honestly, what made me giggle is that we were so caught up that had the doc just put it in as a regular dictation it would have been done just as fast as a stat. I guess it is worth a shot to notify your CCM- she can either delete the email or actually confront the client.

The TSM called me and asked me to help out on an account that was way behind in TAT. I agreed to give it a try for at least a couple hours to sort of break it in. Well - I was not only greeted with people dictating that I'm not even sure were speaking English for every report I tried, then QC1 had the nerve to send me major quality alerts for the handful of reports I did. This is exactly what we need to do. We need to help each other find a better job. While PF may not be the right fit for me, it might be perfect for someone else. Okay, guess I will show how dumb I am. I am an MT in a in-house office for a urologist. he dictates, I listen and transcribe. i get on here and read everyone fussing about VR. I get that VR is voice recognition...but what is your job? If you are an MT, you have VR, I realize it gets it wrong sometimes but what do you do? A little over a month ago my old PC finally crashed after 10 good years. I replaced it and had to put antivirus on it (of course). I ended up taking my son to the ER and can't afford insurance, so I ended up paying out of pocket for his antibiotics. A couple of days ago I took my mom to the ER because of sudden back pain. We live in a town of ~20,000 and have a 100-bed hospital with a fully staffed ER. We were the ONLY ones in the waiting room. It took 1-1/2 hours to be seen by a triage nurse, 1 hour to be escorted to an ER room, 1 hour to be seen by a nurse (never seen by an MD), and 2 hours for a different nurse to wander distractedly into the room with discharge/followup instructions. Urinalysis has been obtained today suggesting 50 to 100 WBCs, RBCs, many bacteria, with a WBC of 6.9, hemoglobin 14.3, positive nitrites and moderate leukoesterase in his urine.
