I must be a weirdo because I love listening to those recordings. - They can be pretty funny.

It has to be said though that I will take any opportunity to take a break from work.
Inactivity Chart and Phone Conversation - Sarah

This may sound paranoid, but I found if you sit and listen and don't type it gets counted as inactivity time! So I sit there and "doodle" on the keyboard the entire time and then delete it when they start dictating again.
As long as audio - Just me

It's my understanding that as long as audio is playing or there are keystrokes it is not considered inactive time. Based on that, if you quickly re-read the entire report at the end and you are not playing the audio or using the keyboard I think that would count as inactive. I personally wouldn't doodle on the keyboard as ASR does enough of that on its own unfortunately. Instead, maybe press the up and down arrow keys... just a thought.
Heard some great stuff - poorhouse

Heard a pain doctor asking another doctor to write a script for his daughter's narcotics because she "left it in her car and it got stolen." The other doctor said sure. Also heard a doctor talking about buying the house next to him and converting it into a two-story garage for all his cars. Heard a lot about the newly implemented EMR and how crappy it is and how many tulip bulbs one doctor planted around his property, like 80,000 of the things!
I love the conversations too! - Trampled underfoot

They can be very "revealing"; the doctors either don't care about us listening in or don't think about it. One doctor, after such a conversation, went on to intentionally dictate a recipe for me, the transcriptionist, for what he said was the "best spaghetti sauce"!

Serioulsy, Wouldn't It Have Been Easier To Just Tell Us SM Dec 17, 2014they were going to pay us 7 cpl? From just glancing through the posts here that is what everybody is basically saying. Did anyone make more than that? I for one am NOT going to approve my timecard because I DON'T APPROVE!
I'm still up in the air on whether I will finish out this week or not. ...
Radiology Paid Per Minute? Is $1/dictated Minute Good, Bad, Average? Mar 01, 2010Have 4 years experience. Mostly acute care/basic 4. Got a job offer for Radiology using Meditech platform and pay offered is $1 per dictated minute. This is an IC job. Haven't done radiology exclusively before and haven't been paid per dictated minute either.
Thoughts?
Thanks! ...
More On The Conversation Below Nov 11, 2011Regarding the conversation below about the end of the transcription profession, a while back MQ put a poll on MQ Central regarding professional development, goals and objectives, etc. I wonder why they would bother with this if they believe we will be replaced by the new technology (EHR). Also, their "most improved MT" contests.
I feel like we are getting mixed messages. ...
Conversation Below About PF And Other Oct 31, 2013This is exactly what we need to do. We need to help each other find a better job. While PF may not be the right fit for me, it might be perfect for someone else. If MModal, Nuance and others like them lose enough of their good MTs, they will have no choice but to pay us fairly and make working for them more appealing. We are extremely talented people and our job is very intense. We deserve a lot more than we are getting. I am happy to make half of what I made just a few years ago. It's time ...
I Am LOVING All This Conversation!!!! May 12, 2012All this conversation from people who realize what is and has been happening to their careers as medical transcriptionists is fantastic. Now, let's see some more action. Contact the attorneys that filed the Transcend suit, let's get other companies involved here. That's the only way we're going to send a big message. Just think, before the cut in pay with editing came about, we really didn't see too much problem with making the money that we neede ...
Does C-phone Work With Cable Phone Line May 11, 2015I am thinking about switching my current phone line and going with a bundle deal for our second house. Does Dictaphone C-phone work through a cable phone line? I still have the copper wiring at my primary home because I was afraid to switch it so didn't include the phone service in our cable package there. Thanks!

Interesting Conversation I Had With An Indian MT Nov 05, 2009I received a request to chat on my FB account today. The person on the other end was an MT in India and he was essentially requesting American MTs to subcontract to him, let him do the work and pay him because (paraphrased) "even if the client doesn't wish the work offshored, there are many ways around this and no one would be the wiser."
Anyone else had an encounter such as this? I did find out he makes about $700/month working 6 days a week, 8 hours a day.

Annoyed...but Not A Big Deal, Just A Conversation Starter Nov 17, 2010Anybody else get annoyed at docs who put every job they dictate in as a priority? I mean, everything they dictate, from a 2-month-old death summary to a 3-week-old T&A. I really hate the ones that are so old that the billing numbers have been erased from system. I'm guessing they were threatened with their license being pulled to get their work caught up. That's more important than H&Ps that need to be transferred with a dying patient right?? ...

I Had A 10 Minute Report And.... Dec 14, 2009only got 37 lines from it. This nutter dictating kept putting me on hold (with the worst music) every section of the report so he could look it up in the patient's chart! I hate it when they do that stuff! There would be no way I would go to this guy as a patient. Anyone who is that unorganized is not going to operate on me!

0.16 Per Audio Minute? Feb 05, 2010Has anyone heard of pay at 0.16 per audio minute for medical transcription? They told me I could make at least $10 an hour or more at this rate. This seems impossible to me... What do you think? ...

Would It Be Too Much To Ask To Get A 5 Minute Window Mar 06, 2011Seriously, I was 11 seconds (according to my punch clock) past the scheduled start of maintenance on submitting a really long job and it didn't go through. New 6-minute Rule-sm Aug 14, 2013When you get NJA you have the 3 options as we did before. When you choose to "make up time", at the very end of the explaination, it says something along the line of entering a leave request on teamwork for excused no pay?
This only makes sense if in fact you cannot or do not make up the time, but the policy does not explain it that way. Example: You work 2 hours and get NJA. You have 6 hours to make up and can only make up 4. The remaining 2 hours must be en ...
