Curious, are you annoyed or energized by - sm

the games that some employers put out there to increase our production?  Not only does it annoy me, but it seems to demean the importance of our work to put it in a game format.  But maybe that is just me.

Here's my opinion (sm) - BTDT

Years ago, when I first moved from in-hospital to at-home, I thought it was really cool... I got some cool extra cash and some cool stuff in contests and production "races" - biggest producer in a day, things like that. Then, I went to work for Precyse. They had these "virtual pizza" parties and so everyone and their dog would log in and try to work and the system would bog down because they didn't have the bandwidth for that. Multiple calls to tech support resulted in "keep trying" which sort of ended my interest in participating. Eventually, I left Precyse and the company I'm with now never has enough work to have contests. Also, I have a husband who has a great income, so maybe I became less obsessed with making every dime I could. And frankly, now, with ASR being 95% of my work, I'm so burned out I couldn't care less. I put in my required number of hours, I hit the bare minimum line count, and I move on to other things, like taking classes to get out of this crappy line of work and find a new career before I'm too old for employers to want me. To me, contests don't demean the importance, because I would still produce the same quality I always do, and I understand why they do it (when they're seriously behind in TAT, for instance, or clearing up a backlog when they first take over a new account, but IMHO, the days of incentives and bonuses and contests are numbered because the economy won't support it now that ASR has infiltrated almost every company worth working for. JMHO.

Definitely annoyed. Its always a short-term gain for a long-term loss with - the games. I hate it when I see them. nm

The stupid football game that a certain ROM launched today. Ughhh, I hate all the stupid games and stupid weather reports (cloudy skies with lots of red). Waste of my time.

Really Annoyed Right Now....
Oct 04, 2013

The TSM called me and asked me to help out on an account that was way behind in TAT.  I agreed to give it a try for at least a couple hours to sort of break it in.  Well - I was not only greeted with people dictating that I'm not even sure were speaking English for every report I tried, then QC1 had the nerve to send me major quality alerts for the handful of reports I did.  Meanwhile I lost a lot of money and self esteem helping them out.  Never again will I do that. &n ...

Is Anyone Else Annoyed At All The Phone Calls From Schools?
Mar 11, 2010

You can't get some of the schools to stop calling you even after you tell them you've enrolled with another school and graduated, and have a job.  Is anyone else offended by the high-pressure tactics?  If a school has to keep calling and offering discounts and specials, that's a red flag, or is it just me?  I got my training years ago and I still can't get them to go away.  You expect that from those cheesy sales people trying to sell you whatever, but th ...

Annoyed...but Not A Big Deal, Just A Conversation Starter
Nov 17, 2010

Anybody else get annoyed at docs who put every job they dictate in as a priority?  I mean, everything they dictate, from a 2-month-old death summary to a 3-week-old T&A.   I really hate the ones that are so old that the billing numbers have been erased from system.  I'm guessing they were threatened with their license being pulled to get their work caught up.  That's more important than H&Ps that need to be transferred with a dying patient right??  ...

Super Annoyed With Email From Supervisor
Sep 01, 2012

Is anyone else even just a little angered with the email from the CCM about the weekly statistics? The part that really steams my broccoli is "This is no different than if you were to get a quarterly review or yearly review with your pros and cons listed and where improvements need to be made." Well.... when the CCM and QA lead get quarterly reviews, dont they get RAISES? That is how the rest of the world works! RAISES. My teen son works at Taco Bell and he just got his 6 month review on hi ...

Am I Being A Jerk, Or Is Anyone Else Annoyed The MM Coding Stuff Was Moved To This Board?
Mar 22, 2014

I've already been through school with Andrews and am getting ready to start the transition ICD-10 course, and I honestly don't mean to be a jerk about M modal.  I do feel badly for the MTs there, but I don't see why all the MM coding talk couldn't have just stayed with the MM side of the board.  Anyone else feel the same? ...

Curious To Know What Others Are Using For
Sep 10, 2010

internet search engine. I have found that Google is causing serious slow down of the computer since upgrading to 6.1 and wondering if this could be the culprit of the problems with 6.1 as when I switched from Google to other search engines I am not having the slow DQS 6.1 problem. Support suggested this when they tried to fix the problems I was having.  I want to know what others have found to be a good search engine for MT other than Google. I don't know why Google would have any ...

MQ CURIOUS

With FTR still in play and all the other requirements made of us highly-paid MTs, when ASR 4 cpl goes into effect in February, does that mean 3 cpl would still be deducted if our "performance" had to be improved?  Would that mean 1 cpl or, as an example, if an MT produced 1000 ASR lines in one day, would that MT make $10 for a day's work?  TIA ...

Jun 13, 2012

Are so many of you intent on being miserable that those of us who are not miserable and who are actually doing well are called liars? Why are we "rubbing it in" when we share that there are good gigs out there, that we have one and that we are doing well and yet when you are all spreading your misery, hate, and discontent you're "just telling the truth?" If you're working for a company that pays crap, is it then the company's fault or yours that you don't have a better job? ...

Aug 07, 2012

I know why I've been an MT for so long.  I've had long periods in and out of the industry.  I'm on my way out for the final time now.  I've been interviewing and it looks good. My question is this.  Why are YOU an MT?  What is keeping you from getting a good job that pays you what you deserve instead of servant wages?  What is holding you back from your self-respect? With me, it's my bad temperament and my general dislike of people.   ...

Curious About Something,,,again
May 28, 2013

As I just got of a dictation with variable volumes and of course the eventual hang up with the loud dial tone, seems to me we could make a real good case for a worker's comp hearing loss problem. Not so much to collect now but to make an argument that they need to fix the volume on the system and maybe actually train the doctors to dictate correctly or be liable for lawsuits before we all go deaf. Too late for me, the ringing is staggering at this point. Thoughts anyone ...

Curious About EMR
Nov 26, 2013

Can anyone who has done EMR records tell me, is it that much different than transcribing a document?  The ads that I see where they are hiring for EMR usually want experienced, but doesnt the experience just have to do with learning the platform?  I would love to learn to do EMR, thats why I'm asking.  I'm very experienced in transcription, been a QA for 9 years even, so the transcription part is no concern for me, I'm thinking it is just learning the system, am I r ...

I Am SO Curious!
Mar 26, 2014

Our hospital just went with M*Modal.  We are getting laid off in a couple of months. I am curious to know the answer to this question.  We have three doctors that stand out way ahead of the rest of our doctors with their HORRIBLE dictation.  I MEAN HORRIBLE! However, I have no problem doing the dictation only b/c I have done their work for almost 17 years.  How many transcriptionists or editors or whatever will those particular reports go through when sent to M*Modal before t ...
