What percentage of your dictators enter all demographics needed? - Rose

on a good day about 80%. Some days, it drops to about 60%. Our process, however, is if the dictator doesn't give 2 verifiable pieces of identifying data, it is pended to the facility for them to deal with. This is a very quick process, so we don't waste a lot of time hunting and searching and can get right to the dictation part.

Thanks Old Anon (sm) - Rose

On my account 100% of the dictators do not enter demographics and do not spell the names. I was told I would "occasionally" have to look up demographics. I WISH the co. I work for would do it like yours.

And my company is...SM - Old Anon

one that regularly gets raked over the goals on the company board for monitoring keyboard/pedal time and all manner of other offenses, the majority of which I've not experienced. Their line rate is also not the best and not what I'm really worth; but I consistently make between $9 and $10 dollars an hour, relatively stress free. Most would say that's not great, and it's not compared to what I used to make in-house, but I have no stress, no nasty emails, and overall I'm treated fairly.

Glad you found a fairly decent situation.
I can say almost the same... and I, too, am okay with it... - sadie

I work for one of The Hated Ones, too, and I think about 70% of the notes come in with demographics intact and accurate. I still feel stressed at times, but nothing like what is described on these boards. Time will tell, I suppose, but as long as I've been here, I'm satisfied with my paycheck, my supervisors, and with what I feel my standing is in the group/company.

100% do, but that's MY company and THEIR system the way it's - set up. Docs only need to scan the bar code and

VVVVWAH-LAH. Nothing else required. Perhaps your account could benefit from an upgrade or the IT department is lacking. This stuff over my 20+ years and just about as many jobs (kidding, but feels like it) has been integrated and automatically populates, even with the old C-phones, and I've never had that problem.

This type of question I would think varies from MTSO to MTSO, from account to account, and from platform to platform so...lions and tigers and bears - oh, my!

Zero percent. - :(

What Percentage Of Dictators Can Achieve 99% Accuracy Using VR?
Nov 24, 2013

On the account I work I'd say only about one dictator in 20 can achieve 99% accuracy with VR without editing.   This doesn't surprise me in the least. We could have told the developers this 20 years ago, but money talks.  For the doctors forced to use VR, will the errors be acceptable to them?  To the big wigs at the hospitals?   ...

Lousy Dictators - Crappy, Hard To Understand Dictators, Both ESL And English-speaking
May 17, 2014

Today I will make less than half of what I normally get because all I've gotten today are crappy, hard to understand dictators, both ESL and English-speaking.  Seems like all I get lately are the hard to understand, mush-mouth dictators.  Guess Nuance doesn't want their MTs making quota.  Sorry.  I just had to vent. ...

Exactly - Agreed Posted: Oct 2nd, 2012 - 10:39 pm In Reply to: FYI - Anonymousno one inhouse or outhouse pays for filling in demographics and it is quite plainly wrong when paid on a production basis - at least in America. We are not indentured servants but are heading there - if not already there - by working without being paid for all characters transcribed including demographics. How Much Time Do You Spend On Demographics?
Apr 30, 2014

I have an account where the doctors never enter demographics. I'm spending 5 minutes on each report filling in demographics and cc's from doctors who only slur a last name.  Many partial doctor names need to be Googled.  If I do about 36 reports a day at 5 minutes each with demographic research then I'm spending 3 hours of my shift working for nothing!   How is it for the rest of you? ...

Sloooowww MQ Mail, SLOOOWW Demographics.
Feb 25, 2010

It must be just me.  My CTL just informed me that she wasn't aware that our e-mail was so slow.  It takes me almost 10 minutes just to read my first e-mail of the day.  She wants us to check our e-mail three times daily.  That would be 30 minutes of my own "free time."  Personally, I prefer not to waste my transcription time as it counts against me when I do in my average hourly PTO which is fast dwindling to minimum wage (used to be $18/h).  Now I read on this ...

Spending More Time Fixing Demographics Than Transcribing
Jul 14, 2010

I signed up for college this fall to get a HIT degree and hopefully get out of transcription. Seems I spend so much time looking up incorrect demographics, patient account numbers, etc., due to dictors entering the wrong information, and with the company I work for, it counts against us, YET we dont get paid to lookup demographics and fix errors, but its our responsbility. I am finding this so frustrating and spending 9 hours a day to make barely 90 bucks. ...

M*Modal Enter Key Not Working
Feb 23, 2012

Suddenly today when editing in M*Modal I can hit enter to get text to go to the next line, but it does not skip a line like it should for a new paragraph, and if I hit enter again at the beginning of that line it will not put in another line. It's not my enter key because it works fine in word and here.....:-) So it's within the program and I have searched and searched to try to find out what I did. I must have disabled that somehow but I have no idea and I need it back! I can ...

Apr 28, 2011

I can't figure out the best way to enter my time with SoftScript.  I have been told several times to enter only the time spent typing, which is okay but then it looks like I only typed 2/3 of my shift.  Just calculating typing time alone is around 200 lph.  If I include proofreading, reviewing account specs, and slow upload/download times added in, my line count is too low.  HELP!  Can't seem to make them happy either way!  Mid winter they had no work.... ...

Percentage Sent To QA
Jun 27, 2012

I sent in 10% to QA last month due to difficult dictators.  There were a couple of days where I had some really bad dictations and maybe sent in 4 reports on that day.  Other days I didn't send any reports to QA.  The company has always told us if we are not 100% sure of the word to leave it blank.  Now I am being penalized for taking this advice.  I have been put on notice that they will let me go if I continue to go over 8%.  Does this seem unreasonable? &nbs ...

Percentage Of Lines To QA?

Editors: What Percentage Of Your Time Is Not Compensated?
