What is the best way to accurately enter time with SoftScript? - Seriously frustrated

Posted: Apr 28, 2011

I can't figure out the best way to enter my time with SoftScript.  I have been told several times to enter only the time spent typing, which is okay but then it looks like I only typed 2/3 of my shift.  Just calculating typing time alone is around 200 lph.  If I include proofreading, reviewing account specs, and slow upload/download times added in, my line count is too low.  HELP!  Can't seem to make them happy either way!

Mid winter they had no work....but now that there is work, they expect the minimum requirement.

I ALWAYS work my complete shift and have only asked to switch nights once in the 5 months I have worked for them.  My last accuracy check was 100%!!!!  You would think those things would come into play here, but they still sent out an email reminding me that my line counts were too low and to only record the time spent typing.  UGH.

I know it sounds wrong but only put the time in you transcribe as that is the only time you are making money. They do realize other time is spent doing other things, but if you add that time in, your line counts look low. Better than getting those stupid emails about low line counts.

Thank you! - Seriously frustrated

So, just to clarify, should I be entering one job at a time and rounding the time since the time card only allows 5-minute increments?

SS time card specifics - sm

I posted below about how I did my time card at SS. Let's say that I start work at 8 am, take a lunch break from 12 to 12:30, then come back and finish my shift at 4:30.

For each day that I worked, I would enter: 8:00 to 12:00, and then another entry with 12:30 to 4:30. So each day actually has two entries to it.

Those 2 entries for each day represented my 8 hours worked, which also included all the time that I spent on reading/answering emails, reviewing specs, uploading/downloading, etc.

Has anyone typed for Uscribe USA? How are they to work for?

That is what I do. sm - SoftScript Oldie

I know that work has been low. I usually round "down" as it works out better for me. I guess what I mean is I really put it down to the minute (or 5 minute increments). Now another thing I do is this.....if per se I do 5 jobs that last 65 minutes but I do this over 2 hours. I just put in per se 11:00 to 12:05. I hope this helps! :)

When I worked there, I filled out my time card with the time that I started my shift, and ended it with the time that I signed off. That included ALL of the time that I worked, both productive and unproductive (reviewing account specs, reading email, etc.)

You have to remember that the time card you fill out is what SS will use if you ever happen to file for unemployment, and it is also what they will use to "prove" that they are paying you at least minimum wage.

Reading company emails, proofreading, reviewing account specs and upload/download times are ALL work related and, as an employee, you are entitled to be compensated for that time. If you don't include that time on your time card, you are giving the company a freebie and a way to skirt around the employment and minimum wage laws.

Low Lines - SoftScript - Still Around

[ In Reply To ..]
Thank God, I am so glad to see there is someone else who has the same problems I have in regards to the low lines. I received the email also. And yes, filling out the time sheet is very difficult to do. As someone posted if you ONLY put the time you spent with your fingers on the keyboard, then nothing else counts for other work related tasks that I believe should be included. But, THEN, you have the issue of hours worked not working out for how many lines typed if you are not an extremely high producer, which I am not, and have not been able to do since I have been there, almost 1 year now. QA scores are great, don't give them any grief,,, but all that matters is production. Oh, and by the way. Who gets paid when we DON'T meet minimum wage by our line count... that is another question all on its own... Thanks for letting me whine.

How To Accurately Transcribe Vitamin D3 5000 Units Daily?
Nov 23, 2011

Question...I've been looking all over trying to figure out the best way to transcribe number/number combinations with medications on a list of meds where using parentheses doesn't seem to be right.  For example: Vitamin D3 5000 units daily, vitamin B12 500 mg daily, etc.  Is there a way to transcribe this where it doesn't look so number-heavy and the dosage is clearly separate from the vitamin? TIA! ...

Tried To Apply For The Second Time To Softscript.

I posted below that my application and resume to Softscript would not upload when I tried over the weekend.  Someone suggested I email jobs@ softscript which I did and got a response from a woman who said she did not receive my application and to please fill it out again.  Well I just did that and it still will not go through.  I replied to her email about this, said I don't know what else I can do and thanked her.  Guess I'm just not supposed to work there.  T ...

M*Modal Enter Key Not Working
Feb 23, 2012

Suddenly today when editing in M*Modal I can hit enter to get text to go to the next line, but it does not skip a line like it should for a new paragraph, and if I hit enter again at the beginning of that line it will not put in another line. It's not my enter key because it works fine in word and here.....:-) So it's within the program and I have searched and searched to try to find out what I did. I must have disabled that somehow but I have no idea and I need it back! I can ...

Trying To Find Part-time Or Full-time Employee Position (hospital/clinic)

If anyone knows of a hospital, clinic, or large practice offering remote full-time or part-time employee positions, I would really appreciate an email.  I have the sudden need to help support a family member long term (in addition to myself) and really need to find a long-term remote employee position for the stability.  Yes, I watch all the various employment sites and even individual hospital sites, but I was hoping that maybe, just maybe someone who works for a hospital that does th ...

Overtime Because Of The Time Clock Time Zone Change?
Feb 06, 2011

It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. I wonder if I will get overtime for yesterday, even though I did not work overtime. I had to start work several hours early because of maintenance, so all hours were completed before the hour my hours start showing up on the next day. Fine. But the last couple hours of yesterday show up as today, ...

Ever since they have changed Schedule Source and now it has a display called today's activity with "actuals" hours, this has not matched the hours shown with the time clock punches and is less than the hours according to the clock punch. MQ Rehire Policy For Part Time To Full Time
Apr 09, 2011

I worked for MQ full time and then went to part time last year, before finally quitting altogether because of health problems. I seem to remember an obscure policy that if you were full time and then went to part time, you could not go back to full time for a period of at least 1 year.  Can anyone verify that for me? IF, and this is a big IF, I were to go back to work for MQ, I would need to be full time. ...

Change From Full- Time To Part- Time.
Sep 10, 2012

I am still debating whether to enroll at Andrews or M-TEC.  My husband is retiring in 2 years and I want to be able to work part-time after that.  Is it realistic to think that I can complete the course at Andrews or M-TEC in 12 months at the most, work full time for a year and then part-time after that.  I would want to be able to work from home.  I guess the other question is "How long after graduating could I expect to earn enough to make it worth the investment, in a reas ...
