Anyone know anything about Meridian? Pay? Benefits? Do you like it or not? VR? Or Straight Typing? Anything would help me out!

I don't know why they won't have some sort of something/anything, so you might be able to talk to somebody whose on your accout, or talk to at all except reading an occasional email once or twice a day. Guess some were communicating with each other through private email and was told to put a stop to that.

I've only been there 3 months, and I find it very sterile, strict, and straight up business period. Least I got a job.

They are a mid sized company. Very strict QA, but any seasoned MT should do well with it. Pay is slightly above average. Schedules are flexible. There is almost always plenty of work because they try to make it a point not to over-hire.

What it comes down to is this. It depends on what kind of MT you are. If you are dedicated, reliable, and client satisfaction comes first to you, even before your pay, you should be a good fit. They train very well, even if it is slow. Once your training is completed, you are pretty much left to work independently. The company does complain about MTs who do not do their own research. Quality is first. They do not get upset about work sent to QA, but expect you to learn from your feedback. The company also complains about many MTs who will not meet the minimum line requirement (1500 lines per day, which is ridiculously low), or who do not work the shift they stated they would work weekly. Again, they want very experienced and dedictated MTs. In exchange, you get slightly higher pay, the company does not offshore or over-hire, and they pay is good. What more can you ask for.

I love the account I work on, but have not worked many of the others. I hope to retire here.

Meridian seems to have found a good balance with VR and straight typing. We do not have ESLs on VR unless they have "normal or canned text" to be inserted. We call them gravy lines because you get full pay for them. As far as the QA, there is no limit as to what you send to QA to a point of course. This does make the minimum line requirement of 1500 per day very easy to do.

You are right in that a "balance" always needs to be in place. My experience was with ALL ESL physicians for just 4 cents, and these are the top companies. I found it virtually impossible to do the 1500 with only 3 blanks that were allowed on accounts. Yet you were downgraded because you could not make the 'minimum' required. I had to remember that nothing is fair in life. In-house you could see the 'cherry picking' and injustices that went on, with the big services you can't prove it at all, you just have to be thankful nowadays you have a job every day, because tomorrow may be different. I am just glad to hear that Meridian is amongst a few services with a good fair structure.

The requirement is 1500 lines?? What system do they work on because there is no way I can do 1500 lines in a day where I am at right now!!! Virtually impossible!

Email me what the pay is per line, what the system you work on like Meditech, Chartnet, or .... I am very interested, but yet not sure if some people are telling the truth on here!

You come on here asking for info about a company, and then question whether or not it is the truth when someone answers you? Geez!

There has been bad and good written about this company. It depends on what kind of MT you are. They have a good balance on what belongs on VR and what does not. Their pay is tiered, probably between 7-9 cpl and 5-6 for VR. It is not one size fits all. Their QA does not mess around, you learn from your feedback, and there is not a limit or penality for how much you send to QA. Their schedules are flexible. They require extensive experience, 10 years I think. You are not penalized for low/no work, and do not have to "flex" or make it up. They do not over-hire, and, yes, 1500 lines is very easy. I do at least 2000 lines or more a day, rarely less. They do not hire often, as people stay, but they have been hiring lately.

Yes, there are still good companies out there to work for, and yes, you can make good money if you are experienced and reliable. Meridian is one of them. I did refer an MT from this board to my company, but when they offered her a job, she said, "Sorry, I don't like any of those specialites." Therefore, no more. I do not send or receive e mails from this site.

Are you asking me if I work for Meridian? No, I don't work for them. I am asking about them. I want to know more about them like pay, are they comparable, etc., etc. Why would I sound like a suit? I work for another well known company, but interested in more work!

I was wondering that too. When did 1500 lines per day become low??? I would really like to know .... I would LOVE to work at a place where I can get 1500 lines and make over the "usual" amount, ie 8-cents a line. I don't think there is any company out there that pays more than 8-cents a line and you do 1500 lines a day. That is impossible. People come on!!!

I gather from the posts he/she is referring to a combination of straight typing and VR. sm - just a thought

At first I thought the post rather rude, as yes, some of us can easily do 1500 lines straight typing, but to assume it is easy for all and to set that as the minimum required would rule out a lot of people. There are places that pay more than 8 cpl for straight typing but generally they are the smaller MTSOs, at least that has been my experience. If you post your resume, they find you.

Meridian is a great place to work. I have been employed by them for many years and really have no complaints. They expect their employees to work independently, achieve their line counts and be professional. If you are unable/unwilling to do certain work (cherry-picking) you will not last. If you do not work your schedule - which you choose, and if you repeatedly make the same mistakes this company is not for you. If you are dedicated and take pride in your work this should be a good fit. They do not hire often because most employees stay once hired. There is not a ton of info here on the company because we are happy to be logged in and working instead of on this board with all the nonsense that goes on here.

Meridian was probably one of the last MT companies in the industry with integrity. They had very flexible schedules, above average pay, always plenty of work, wonderful QA, very reasonable expectations, and respect for their employees. I had hoped to retire there. It seems the accounts have been on extended holiday since xmas, then New Year's, then Easter, then July 4th, it's never-ending.
