Meridian Questions - looking
Posted: Jan 31, 2012
Can anyone give me information on working at Meridian? Good company, bad? Schedules? Do they offer part time positions? Pay rate? Thanks in advance for any info.
Looking - go back about 2 weeks. All same questions asked and responded to. - Except pay. SM

Meridian has 3 pay tiers, so it depends on what account you are on and how much experience you have. It is not the one-size-fits-all.
I am just an MT. I do not know if they are hiring for FT or PT, but I know they have both positions currently.
Go back 2-3 weeks on Company Board for Meridian. There were a couple of positive responses about the company.

I sent my resume to Meridian and received a nice, prompt response, suggesting a time to interview. We agreed upon a time, and I never heard from her again. Thankfully, I was only casually looking so wasn't terribly inconvenienced (generally happy with current employer) but thought it was pretty lacking in professionalism, if not manners.
Some people say this sort of thing is common these days. I find it ironic that companies insist on reliable MTs when they themselves can't honor a simple commitment. Their loss. :)
Maybe she sensed you were only casually looking. - If happy where you are ..sm

why submit resume? There are some MTs out of any work for a long time now who might need the opportunity more than someone who is currently happy and only looking for the heck of it. I am unsure how someone can say they are happy where they are but actively send resumes for other jobs. There really is no greener grass these days for MTs. If you have something good, best to stick with it.
I see what you're saying - of course sm

...but my company is in the midst of transition, and I suspect things will become desperate rather quickly. Thought I'd better "keep my finger on the pulse" rather than get caught up in the rush out. My company has been a good fit for me up until now, for which I'm grateful.
I agree that a good interviewer can detect a casual attitude on the part of the applicant; however, as a matter of fact, I never talked with her. We only exchanged a few brief and professional e-mails with her, agreeing on a time to talk. I looked forward to it and was a little miffed that I had set aside the time and prepared myself glass of water, pen with plenty of ink, paper to take notes, list of questions, etc).
I would say that a relaxed, calm attitude on the part of the applicant probably gives a better impression, though. Believe me, I've sounded plenty desperate in interviews in the past, and I think it caused me to overlook the issues that are important to me.
By the way, I made a list of questions I was prepared to ask the interviewer at Meridian. I'll be happy to share these if anybody is interested. So often, when I just want a job offer quickly, I'll overlook the very things that will ultimately burn me. I don't want to jump from the proverbial pan into the fire, doncha know.
I see what you're saying - p.s. sm

Please let me add to the above (I see what you're saying) that I do apologize for appearing to be looking for greener pastures in these horribly stressful times. As you say, it's always a trade-off, and it's best to stay put until the dust settles. Nobody knows as well as I do how difficult times are. Every day I have to wipe the perspiration from my forehead as I follow the stories on this board and elsewhere.
Good luck to everyone having a hard time these days.
I had the exact same experience. After sending my resume (SM) - anon

I received an email, suggested a time for an interview, a time that I was not available. I emailed her back to let her know that I would be available earlier or later but just not at that time, she emailed me and said that she would contact me on Monday (this was on a Thursday) and I have not heard anything from her, no call or email on that Monday. Sad thing, I was not casually looking, I was seriously looking, lol. Oh well....
Is anyone else working for Meridian having problems getting work? Its a great company to work for, but I can't keep waiting for the work to come. Did they hire too many MTs? Just curious to know how other MTs are doing with Meridian. ...
Wonder how many ex-Meridianites got the layoff? sitting here NJA again...on 3 accounts. I am so frustrated. Went into this with an open mind but the only side that keeps getting more evidence is the side that says get the heck out of Dodge (if I don't get kicked out by a layoff first). actively looking for another job. It's sad what is happening to seasoned MTs who it seems like they are getting the boot because they are productive. Me-15 years and&n ...
Just curious about what's happening with the other MTs from Meridian and if any are still with MModal. I left end of June - Best decision I ever made. Currently working for a local MD M-F, salary. My whole outlook on life changed once I made the change in employment. There is hope out there. ...

Like the poster said below, there are not many posts here on this company. I have searched the archives and it seems people either love or hate this company, but still not much here. Any help? Thank you. ...
Meridian was probably one of the last MT companies in the industry with integrity. They had very flexible schedules, above average pay, always plenty of work, wonderful QA, very reasonable expectations, and respect for their employees. I had hoped to retire there. It was very comfortable. The future does not seem as bright now. Even if this profession does not completely die, companies like Meridian will soon cease to exist. It was a good run while it las ...

Is this common practice? I've worked for them for 7 years and now they are cutting our pay? I havent had a raise in those 7 years, and inflation just so happens to be raising all my gas bills, grocery, clothes, and utility bills... but i should take a pay cut?
Is there ANY good company to work for out there that will pay 11 cpl or more ? I mean for heavens sake, I've got about 15 years experience... i'm not asking for more than mere chump change, but the ...
Just interviewed with Meridian, forgot to ask if they are IC or employee and do they pay for spaces, can anyone help? Also, how long before I can expect the "employee package?" Thanks. ...
Is anyone else having trouble getting work at Meridian? Looking through the archives, it seems some have plenty and others very little, though the couple with plenty was a few months ago. It seems the accounts have been on extended holiday since xmas, then New Year's, then Easter, then July 4th, it's never-ending. We were also told that they were NOT hiring new MTs to service new accounts, yet there was an ad out for 30 new MTs! ...
latest victims of the MedQuist "M*Modal" world domination. I hear they were strong-armed into the buyout because Meridian was using M*Modal's software program (?) it was a case of "sell out or lose the platform."

Have you been told we can no longer go by the schedules we have been using all along? In the conference call they told us our schedules would all stay the same until transitioned over. Now I'm told today that I can't schedule my very flexible schedule the way I did any longer.
Anyone else with a flexible schedule told the same thing? ...
Hey all, just wondering if by some miracle that everything is working out okay for you ?
I was so sorry for all of you when MedQuist took you over, and was so glad I was able to get out last year before it happened. Is everyone doing okay ? ...
