Have you been told we can no longer go by the schedules we have been using all along?  In the conference call they told us our schedules would all stay the same until transitioned over.  Now I'm told today that I can't schedule my very flexible schedule the way I did any longer.  

Anyone else with a flexible schedule told the same thing?

I thought Nuance bought Meridian - ??

I know b/c two of mine were let go for that reason. They have to be able to rely on you there at a certain time to get the work done.

I was asking if any of the Meridian/now MModal employees were already told they could not flex their schedules.

I have not heard of this from any of the other MTs that I know in the company, so was wondering if some that I don't know have been told they can't flex anymore.

We were just told at the conference call (last week?) that NOTHING will change until the transition is complete. Ha. I've been through 3 company buy-outs in the last 7 years. I know they lie through their teeth. I just thought it would be a little bit longer before the lies started showing up.

So either MModal is already lying about keeping our same schedules until the transition is complete or someone else is.

They had laid off managers and the new one in her place sent an e-mail stating that the ones who were doing flex schedules needed to send her an actual schedule now. She stated it like she figured those flexing MTs were working somewhat of a schedule every day other than emergencies and to send her that. I think it is so she could put it in TeamWork.

HOWEVER, there's no work, so everyone was flexing anyway. So what's the diff?

I wouldn't fret. Just do your regular thing unless your manager tells you otherwise. The managers in place right now at MModal are supposed to be dealing with only the MTs and nothing else. If what you're doing is not okay, you'll know it soon enough.

Thought I found a home at Meridian but I guess I am wrong. My accounts which are always overflowing are completely dry since the take-over. I am so sad they sold out to M Modal.....I don't really flex and was not told not to, so cannot answer that question for you.

sounds to me like M=Modal is worse than Nuance really. I remember when I worked for Nuance; at least they had bonuses. I tell ya, this field is a definite field to get out of anymore.

I have not been told anything about my usual schedule. All I have heard about that was the email from earlier this week (might have been last week) asking us to send what our normal schedules have been so they could be entered in Teamwork. When the workflow is slow, I don't know how anyone could avoid flexing anyway. I'm just taking it day by day, clocking in and out, and seeing what happens. I have yet to show 8 hours on the time clock, but I have managed to get well over the required line count that is required in a 39-hour week, so I guess I will just have to see if anything is said about that. I would ask your acct. manager to see if you can just email her your schedule each week for the upcoming week so she can enter it into Teamwork for you.

We had a nice flexible 12-hour window at my old company, but during the "transition process" we were also told by M*Modal not much would change and that they would be 'reasonably flexible'.

The week after, asked to send in a schedule so they can submit to Teamwork. The week after that, were reminded by numerous emails that we have to adhere strictly to our schedule, clock out for any break over 10 minutes, and if we did take a meal break we were told when to take it(!), i.e., exactly halfway through the shift.

Unfortunately, I think you're in for the same ride.

We were asked to hand in our "usual" working schedules. But as stated earlier, if there is no work during your given "normal" time, you do have to flex your time anyway. I was also under the impression that you had to have 39 hours AND the hourly required lines for FT, not one or the other. I have been okay so far, but things are really slow - but no worse than this time last year. It is typically slower until the end of January. I don't think that has anything to do with the acquisition - at least not yet anyway.

Anyone have that info.  All I can find is 12,000 employees in 5 countries.  Not that it matters but I am just trying to figure out if a few hundred lay-offs is truly representative of the impending ax falling on all of us or if it is just some house cleaning and they really are just trying to make it a leaner more efficient machine with full timers only on very strict schedules.    I am both sorry and envious for those laid-off.  TAA sounds like a fantastic opportunit ...

I was just curious about what employees thought of Nuance on Glassdoor.  You read several US employee opinions and they reflect the morale listed on MTStars.  Scroll further down and read the opinions of the transcriptionists from India.  What a difference.  They are highly satisfied with their jobs and most have been working with Nuance for 6 to 7 years.  The US transcriptionists are very sad!!  What a difference..... ...

Meridian was probably one of the last MT companies in the industry with integrity.  They had very flexible schedules, above average pay, always plenty of work, wonderful QA, very reasonable expectations, and respect for their employees.  I had hoped to retire there.  It was very comfortable.  The future does not seem as bright now.  Even if this profession does not completely die, companies like Meridian will soon cease to exist.  It was a good run while it las ...
