WMX New Version Enterprise Spyware! - Pete

Posted: Sep 11, 2010

Work pools are low so heads up to the drones, New Versions has capability to monitor all your activities as soon as job is pulled up on screen. Your STMs have been instructed to start tracking, reporting, hounding how long your fingers ARE or are NOT moving on that keyboard, and more importantly if your NOT using those keyboard shortcuts that they are hammering into your discombobulated little noggins...God forbid you get caught using that little furry mouse, you're going to catch heat about it. Operation BIG BROTHER is underway in collaboration with their new quality campaign at WMX...and when it's SLOW... WMX's new philosophy is to compartmentalize, and micromanage the drones to death.

When statistics are king, productivity gets lost - not in the mood

[ In Reply To ..]
Oh look, management has a new toy! Watch them hassle us for no good reason some more. Then they wonder why productivity takes a nose dive and so does TAT. News flash - we only have so much energy. We can waste it playing your fun new statistical games and comparing ourselves to everyone else and worrying about tweaking this and improving that....or we can spend it producing - pick one. Another choice is expending our energy on a job search for a saner company to work for. Watch the train wreck as everyone tries to please everybody and instead satisfies no one.

That about sums and zips it all up in a nutshell, Not in the mood! - Pete

I found out they were using spyware when I got laid off...sm - WebQA

[ In Reply To ..]
They removed Enterprise and the Community Page from my desktop while my computer was on. I had no idea they were spying on my computer the entire time I worked for them. Glad I'm outta there!

Baloney. They can remove your access so that you cannot log in, but they cannot - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
...get onto your computer without your permission.

There is absolutely no reason they'd need to remove the desktop icons on your desktop! That's too funny. All IT has to do is disable your access on the server. Just like your ISP could disable your access to their email server. They don't actually access your PC.

Actually, they did... - WebQA

[ In Reply To ..]
They had no reason to but they did it. They are gone, caput. But you won't believe me because you can't see my PC, so oh well.

Well, it's not exactly a secret! Those data are posted - Maybe you would be happier elsewhere?

[ In Reply To ..]
for us right on the Community Board so we can use them too.

Why on earth the surprise, though? There's always been some monitoring, something most of us have known all along. ???

OF COURSE they can block our access to protected sites when we're no longer employed, just like every other on-line company in every other industry in every other country.

OF COURSE there is some overseeing of work. What did you expect? We're employees working on THEIR stuff, and every employee is a big expense to an employer. It is their business, whether we like it or not.

Many companies go to a lot of trouble to hide the information that's been posted, even firing people for telling each other what they make. My last supervisor in another company flat refused to tell me how I was producing compared to others, at least 3 times. Knowing what other people doing the same work make and how they do it is powerful information--for us.

Not being surprised myself, when these metrics were posted, I probably spent the better part of an hour checking my use of keys and comparing it to that of the best-paid people. It was fun and, of course, compellingly interesting since it was all about me.

Every employee is a big expense!?! - yeah, keep crying, suit

[ In Reply To ..]
That's all we are seen as by Webmedx these days, an expense to eliminate. Why, oh, why won't the reports just type themselves?
Well, yes. Of course. NM - Passed Grownup 101

A huge expense. Average cost of each employee for a company is... - see message

...twice that of what the employee is paid. This is for things like workman's comp, unemployment, insurance premiums, other benefits etc. Just a general business 101 ballpark.

Oh now I feel so guilty I will gladly work for free. - sheesh!
[ In Reply To ..]
Let's just ignore any profits they make, surely I can't be making them any money at all, that's why they charge the client so much more than they pay me. And let's ignore that they are saving a LOT of overhead by not having to have us inhouse - another part of Business 101 that they blithely got to skip, along with paid sick days, REAL time and a half OT after 8 hours, PAID downtime, PAID time to read emails and do work-related research, PAID coffee breaks, and all the other perks any other business gives their employees that we don't get. Darned if I don't feel so guilty for existing that I'm likely to pay THEM just for the priviledge of typing for them...and weep with shame that I actually felt entitled to a paycheck to keep my lights on so I can keep typing!

[ In Reply To ..]
...M*Modal. Many other companies also use the proficiency reports to help their MTs.

Stop with the hysteria and dramatics.

It's a proficiency report. The MTs that are producing upwards and over 300 lines per hour - like me - are the ones who are doing well with their proficiency reports. Using those keystrokes and not using my mouse is what makes me able to produce what I produce. I like being able to see what keystrokes I'm using well, and which ones need more attention.

My goal is to make as much money as I can.

If you are so utterly miserable at Webmedx, please just move on and get another job.

Same here, High Producer. So you're one of those! - Not in your league--yet.

I went through the reports and counted the people averaging 300 and over but had to choose somewhat slower people to "compete with" now to get faster. I can transcribe over 300 on my best work type but still have a lot of improving to do to join the 300 Club. :)

Be careful - MTmt

You don't want to inject any TRUTH into the conversation, lest the masses that be find less to be worked into a frenzy over.

I use m-Modal too and just laughed when I read the OP. I think some people need to get a grip and realize if you're finally going to have to work SMARTER and it's the company's job to help you do that.

That is all good and well if your system works, you don't have to reboot 10 times a day, have your foot pedal stop responding and your cursor lag and freeze on an old computer they will not replace! I understand what I am SUPPOSED to do, but I CAN'T! I wish I could use my OWN computer. But oh, I forgot...it is my ISP that is the problem, right. don't think your job is secure because you are a high producer, I was always over 300 both on transcription and M-modal, just had a friend of mine who still works there check the proficiency reports and my QA was 99.3, go figure who is really safe. High producer or not, you may not be.

people laid off - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
What you said is exactly why I am worried also. I have flexed, flexed, flexed until there is no flex left! I have changed to other hours to accommodate. I have higher range line counts and in the last 2 QA spot reviews, had 99.6% and 100%. But I do NOT feel secure, others just like me WERE laid off.

Then, I read on the community board a new post from a "newbie" wanting advice, just out of school, hired for the St. Rose account, and she is still here. I am not angry at her...I am glad she has her job, but I am wondering how they could let long timers with lots of experience go and keep brand new graduates?

[ In Reply To ..]
This was discussed on other threads. So be prepared for some suits charging on here screaming that its LEGAL so they CAN and how DARE we question their methods and motives.

It has been made crystal clear since the layoffs that seniority means nothing to Webmedx.
Your QA score means nothing to Webmedx.
Your production means nothing to Webmedx.
Your attendance and flexibility mean nothing to Webmedx. Your loyalty and ability to be a team player means nothing to Webmedx.

All these things are just arrogantly EXPECTED since as they constantly tell us, they have so many "remarkable" employees. And I believe that actually they do, because until recently they had a good reputation and it was possible to make a living here; and they attracted and kept the best. But CHANGE happens, right?

The suits have been on here complaining that MTs cost Webmedx money. So perhaps the layoffs have something to do with that factor - consider these questions to determine your layoff risk;

Do you get paid more than newbies will accept?

Do you get a lot of PTO due to your longevity?

Are you making enough to live on? Maybe you're making TOO much. Maybe they're looking over payrolls and targeting individuals/teams that are "too high".

Are you asking too many questions/needing too much help about any of the changes we are going through and becoming high maintenance?

Do you actually USE your health insurance?

Are you being accused of high QA utilization (even if your account specifics insist on it)?

Is your primary account picky and/or flighty and have they been through a lot of MTSOs and can't find one that gives them exactly what they demand? Are they always sending negative feedback and is your team always getting nagged to remember their rules?

These are points to consider if seniority is ignored and the playing field is even as far as who is expendable.
webmedx layoffs - longtimewebbie

I was thinking (and hoping) everyone was being over the top in their comments. But,my opinion has turned 180 degrees. First the pilot program training the MDs to edit their own reports.

Reading from those laid off who were team players, good producers, loyal.

Getting nitpicked about not taking our hands off the keyboard in those productivity reports.

Defensive answers from STM when honest questions are asked.

Post on community bulletin board from a new graduate from Webmedx owned M-Tech hired for St. Rose, still here. (Now please, I am NOT angry with her, feel sorry for her! Just angry at management decisions).

Constantly changing account specs causing us to jump through hoops (on OUR time, things that are not reimbursed to us)

Pay cut after 20 years experience.

Pay with M-modal 2/3 of what it was with the OLD ISR due to it causing instablity on my computer, freezing, foot pedal problems. (I am not one of those who will not learn the technology, I averaged 350 to 400 lph on the OLD ISR...but my computer just won't handle the new and Webmedx turns a deaf ear).

I used to be proud to work at Webmedx. I truly felt they were different and did care. Now am getting my head out of the clouds!

2 reports in the past 2 pay periods on ISR where I actually had NEGATIVE line counts after editing...did you know you need to carefully check each job you type, there are glitches....in this case my editing caused there to be fewer lines than when I started, and that is what I got credit for on a 15 minute job....NEGATIVE 30 LINES. STM said it was corrected, would not show up there but would in my check. You guessed it...was very difficult to figure out, but NOPE, no change, I was not paid, was actually in the hole for typing those jobs. BEWARE! (It was ultimately corrected, but had I not been on top of it, wouldn't have happened)

IMO - longtimemt
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think anyone will ever convince me it was anything but my line rate, I did have a high line rate and a CMT and met the highest production levels and QA scores but the companies do not stop to think that they end up paying more benefits for noobies because they don't have the production or quality and more of their work goes to QA and then the company has to hire 2 of them to do the work of 1 old timer.

So what, are you paid hourly? - RoadRunnerMT

[ In Reply To ..]
I am not paid hourly. I am on PRODUCTION. So who gives a crap what they see that I am doing while I am logged in. That is my choice if I want to surf and give my foot/fingers a break rather than punch those keys. It's my body that heaves the havoc. My contract states nothing about not surfing the web nor what I do while I am logged in. See whatever you want. If you don't like it, pay me hourly and give me great benefits and treat me as a real employee and I'll stick to exactly what you get for hourly pay.

Looping Of Audio On Enterprise Latest Version?
Nov 04, 2013

If anyone else can help me stop that dastardly looping or tell me what I am doing to make it happen (it is not intentional, seems like whenever I stop it just loops back a sentence and then repeats itself 3 times), I would be eternally grateful. I wish they would upgrade it already since the looping, combined with the IE8 glitches (when you hit Ctrl+J and it goes to the beginning), is both counterproductive to my production and extremely annoying. If anyone has figured out how to avoid this or ...

Is it just me, or is it quite arrogant for them to request the place in the audio when challenging? Of course, QA/QC never say the audio place where the error is, just the error, and we just have to listen and try to find it. So obviously their time is worth so much more than ours, not only do we have to spend our own time stomaching the nasty email, seeing the almost always overblown points on the errors, and then when challenging the persnickety little errors we also have to tell them the pl ...
