RIPPED OFF ON FINAL PAYCHECK - RIPPED

I resigned from MModal a week ago, June 23rd and received my final paycheck deposit yesterday.  It was over $100 short!  I worked the same number of hours I also do and transcribed within the ball park the same number of lines.   I also had 12 hours of PTO they owed me for that I had not used.  It doesn't appear that I was paid for all of that either.  For some reason they sent me 5 check stubs - I usually only got 2 per pay periods.  I get direct deposit.  I can't make heads or tails of these stubs.  There is no indication on any of them of how many hours I worked or lines I typed.  I can't help but wonder if my former CCM went in and changed my hours on my time card.  She had done it before a couple of times when I was working there.  I questioned it and never got a clear answer back from her.  I still had her email address and sent her a confrontational email asking why my check was short and if she couldn't tell me then forward my message to someone who could tell me.  It just does not seem legal for them to not show the hours you worked or the lines types.  I guarantee if her check was short she would be looking into why.  I am really ticked off.  I still have their computer equipment.  I asked her before I resigned to send me shipping labels and she said she would but I don't have them yet.  I gave 2 weeks notice so they've had time to send the labels.  I am NOT paying out of my pocket to send their equipment back.  If they want it they can come get it or send me a prepaid label to return it.

problems with the system and to make a long story short, had 2 sign ins. I was worried I would not get paid line counts from both sign ins. I just contacted HR and since I was still active I got to see through ultipro what my pay check was.

I was told in my "good-bye" email that I would be paid for PTO separate in the next pay period.

Contact HR if you are having problems. Don't go through your CCM, after all she is not your CCM anymore!

I'm sorry to hear that you were let go, but thanks for the info/advice. After I had emailed my former CCM I thought maybe I should have sent the email to HR. I did tell her to forward it to "whomever else should see it." Whether she will or not is another question altogether. I emailed the CCM because they are normally the ones to close out or approve our time sheets in Teamwork at the end of the pay period. I thought it might be possible that she had changed my hours somehow as she certainly has access to do that. I did notice that they had deposited two separate amounts into my checking account on Friday, one amount was considerably smaller than the other and I thought that might be my PTO but it was too small of an amount for that. My unused PTO should have amounted to around $100. This smaller amount was $39. I did not get a "goodbye" email from HR. I never heard from them. Some companies do "exit interviews" but I never got that either. When I turned in my resignation to my CMM she just replied that she "Wished me well in my new job" and would turn in my resignation. So maybe they will pay me separate for the PTO. MMODAL's next pay day should be July 13th. We'll see what happens. They sure aren't good about telling you these things but that was always the case in pretty much everything with them.

Wow...almost my story too. I also just got 5 stubs of something or another that I can't make heads or tails of. What I noticed tho, was I was paid for my almsot 13 hours of PTO which came to $149...with $47 taken out in taxes???? My one week of regular pay was more and with LESS taxes taken out than my PTO??? What the hell. I am calling the TN office first thing in the morning...my gut tells me I too was ripped off in some manner but I sure can't make heads or tails of just WHERE.

Unfortunately that sounds about right for taxes. I always figure 30%. - nm

I am not sure about that. If you don't earn enough in a pay period, there are no fed. taxes taken out. Working at Mmodal I have had that to happen a few times because of no work. How can $37 fed tax be taken out of $149 PTO, when no fed tax was taken out for 20 hours of work at $171?, but both took SS, state, Medicare, etc.? In talking to my tax account. she said there should have been no difference between hours worked and PTO fed taxes. I have a call into payroll but since I'm no longer working for MM, I think I will probably have to hound them to death to get a reason for this.

There is a "threshold" for taxes. If we earn OVER that threshold, there are taxes taken out. Anything under that threshold, no taxes. For me, I think that threshold is something like, $400 a week (or, $800 each pay period). If I earn $801, I get SLAMMED with taxes so sometimes I try and stay just at, or below that.

Definitely keep questioning. Don't let up ... this is your money. MModal is really just a pack of thieves - if they can find a way to literally steal our income away from us, THEY WILL DO IT.

Your cashed out or unused PTO is considered a bonus which is taxed at a higher rate, almost 50%. Not just MM, it is everywhere. However, on your taxes it should even out because although you will have had more withheld you will only have to pay tax on it as regular income. Stupid I know. That is why anyone who is thinking of leaving should use all their PTO up first so you do not get slammed at a higher tax rate.

It has nothing to do with taxes for me. They have shorted me on some hours and the minimum wage makeup pay. I complained to my former CCM and she sent my email to someone in HR who assured me that I had been paid for what I had clocked in to Teamwork. Bullsh*t. I showed my rear end and told the HR person that I didn't believe any of it and that someone had manipulated my time sheet. So HR put the blame back on my CCM and she finally admitted that she had "edited" my time sheet. She claims I had double punches in it that she was "required" to take out but I don't see any double punches on the time sheet. I had 3 errors which I corrected myself because I forgot to clock out a few times but I took those out. My total hours worked for the entire pay period were 78 and on the pay stubs they had me only down for 33 hours! That's a lot of missing hours! I always worked around 39 hours per week which added up to 78 at the end of the pay period. Anyway, she claims they want to "compensate me" for any money I am owed and is supposed to call me tomorrow to discuss it and "straighten it out." She claims she tried to call me this afternoon but I was home all afternoon and never got a call from her. We'll see.

I am just getting ready to be hired by cognition health partners, were you paid correctly at all?? I have shorted by Stentel, Transmed, HEALTHSOUTH, Ritter pain management and Five Star Anesthesia Pain Management among many others, in fact, it seems you never get paid when you are "let go". Transmed shorted me a month, and Hils Transcription even TOLD me my paycheck amount and it was short. I think everyone tries to get you working for free, and then they lock you out. Hils Transcription only "hired" me for two days, then I was terminated because I had not reached 1000 lines!!! in TWO DAYS!! I had five companies in a row not pay me, but I do not have the money to pay an attorney, so what do you do??
So personally, Hils Transcription is a joke, the QA Manager said i was doing great, but the owner terminated me~~Does that make sense?? Wavescribe never paid me a CENT!! i was owed over a month's pay and again, Transmed shorted me a month, and I just "got hired" today with CHP, do you think it is a scam?? Please help, I need work! (Dont we all these days??)

Once again, my pay doesn't match the pages I calculated.  And of course it looks like I ended up in the lower pay scale which means even less per page.  I figure my pay is about $55 short this time.  But if you try to ask the Divine Ms. M, she just tells you her figures are right.  We have no way of checking or verifying our page counts with what they come up with.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there anything that can be done about it? ...

I finally cut ties with the Q after being returning to work for them and finding them not to be the company they once were or the pay was not the same.  After careful consideration and finding another position, I resigned.  Awaiting my pay out from my PTO and being told it would be deposited today, nada.   Anyone have any idea about this?  Will this be sent as a final check or did I get the royal kick in the you know where and will not see that PTO payout. This was published in the Federal Register last week, correct?  I have a friend who is in a battle with an insurance company over a very sick child.  They are always throwing up obstacles for coverage. She told me that out-of-network treatment is covered at 50% of 200% of Medicare rates.  So we are trying to uncover exactly what that rate is.  Is the CMS Final Rule document what  I am looking for to help her? I have been waiting for final pay from MTSO since May when check was "sent" It has not been received by me, nor has it been returned to MTSO.   Operator of MTSO says they have "fulfilled their legal obligation" and the fact that I have not received money is unfortunate.  Apparently no new check will be issued or Direct Deposit made until original check is returned as not deliverable.  Thoughts and advice please? Can anyone tell me in no uncertain terms, with absolute certainty - is crepitance a word? I cannot find it anywhere EXCEPT on sites like this where MTs are saying it is not a word. I always thought it was not a word but, of course, it keeps creeping up in reports.
