In very few industries does it happen that no one ever retires. No one retires in MT, and every MT who has a baby is back to work within a few days.
This does not happen in an industry that has an office-based workforce. In those circumstances the workforce eventually retires, leaves their jobs, and makes way for younger workers. This does not happen in the MT industry. It stays completely saturated and will for many years to come.
Very few younger MTs/editors are entering the field because of this reason.
