I was reading through this whole train wreck of a thread and it wasn't until this comment at the bottom that someone actually mentioned the real meat of the matter and that is that as an independent contractor, a company CANNOT tell you that you can't work for anyone else and they certainly can't tell you what you may or may not do with your own equipment. If a hiring company wants that right, they need to pay people as employees and provide the equipment for them. Period.
