Petition Update: Moving Forward

Recently, the petition reached and surpassed 2000 signatures! Since the last update, an organization was established and a website created to move forward in improving conditions in MTSOs.

From the website:
"The Medical Transcription Coalition (MTC) provides a forum for home-based workers in Medical Transcription Service Organizations (MTSOs) to improve MTSO conditions in the areas of performance measurement, working conditions, and compensation.

Home-based MTSO workers are often unable to access each other in order to organize for process improvement and collective bargaining within their organizations. While there are other web sites and organizations that offer forums to discuss the above conditions, among other varied topics, the MTC offers a focused means of organizing through online networking and conferencing to collaborate on strategies and solutions to improve conditions in MTSOs.

Membership in the MTC is free.

In the future, if the members choose to engage in work group regulatory activity, or form bargaining units or cooperatives, fund raising, grants, and/or fees could be established at that time, separate from MTC membership.

MTC members volunteer their personal time and talents which can include knowledge in medical transcription, editing, quality assurance, information technology, business, organizational management, MTSO ownership, collective bargaining, law, legislation, standards and licensing.

Take time to register, review the forum topics and contribute your ideas."

In particular, the forum, "Working Conditions," was drafted based on the petition and its comments. It is now open for input in order to distribute and articulate in the near future to existing MTSOs, and future MT-developed MTSOs, the type of working conditions we want implemented.

Other forums include Employer Lobbying and Collective Bargaining, Forming Worker Cooperatives, Regulatory Actions, and MTC membership, structure and organization.
