I don't make tons of money but I make more than minimum wage for where I live, and I make more than I did as a contractor AND more than I did before the grid.
I stayed at a company I really couldn't stand for a long time because I heard terrible stories about Nuance, but my experience here has been good. I do almost 100% editing and usually don't have trouble finding work (and usually I don't even have to leave my primary). I gather that a lot of it depends on what team you get placed on, but from where I'm sitting it seems like the company is trying to do more towards employee wellbeing... despite the snark thrown around here.
