Bankruptcy - Try not to

Posted: Oct 5th, 2016 - 7:09 pm In Reply to: I would start googling bankruptcy attorneys in your state - to get the current laws SM

I filed in 1990 under chapter 7 - liquidation of all my debt. I kept my car and paid it off, but I could not get a credit card (even for my work) or another car for a decent interest rate 6 years later even though I had faithfully made my car payments and paid it off. Just be sure that you cannot use a credit consolidation agency or make payment arrangements or something first. You will not be able to get credit for at least 10 years. It may seem that is not a big deal right now, but 10 years really is a long time. I wish I had tried working out something else before I had gone full bankruptcy. Try looking for a credit counseling agency that is low cost that can help you work out a plan.
