There is no guarantee you will get to make that choice before the company makes it for you. Start applying for part-time jobs to ease back into the workforce and get rid of the no one will hire me with gray hair thinking. One week before I turned 59, I was fired from a very crappy job, but it was still a job. I wanted to stick it out until 62. Quitting was not an option for me either. Then, I got fired and did not see it coming. Keep in mind the company always has the choice to terminate employees, for no reason, a good reason or a made up reason. Get a plan B and get it now.
