How does an 18-bed hospital even exist?
I've been in transcription since 1975 and I can tell you that even a 180-bed hospital needs but 1 transcriptionist.
So how does an 18-bed hospital need 2 transcriptionists?
And you bought a home?
And you're by yourself?
Do you watch the news?
Regards Nuance, there has been a 10% to 25% annual pay cut.
This year, there is an increasing amount of OOW (out of work) along with Nuance hiring people at the same time as their current employees have no work.
Because of EHR, the loss of ambulatory jobs as well as the loss of ER work, we are waiting for the axe to fall as well.
For the most part, I do mainly operative notes (90%) with a smattering of discharges and progress notes.
Medical transcription is on its way out.
I'd suggest that you keep your current job at the 18-bed hospital and take your skills into an ancillary field.
Even what you get with unemployment will be more than you will make with Nuance.
Best of luck.
