"garden variety" is an old general term - not specifically medical term

[ In Reply To ..]

It means common, general, ordinary, standard type of something .. anything.

Garden variety cold, garden variety television, garden variety birthday cake.

My mother used to use it to describe anything not particuarly special or interesting.

Had been getting stressed with having to flex or use up PTO, today I spent the last hour on gardening web sites and looking through seed catalogs.  Feel relaxed now and ready to prepare a little lunch and then check back ...
