Taking the High Road - CT

Posted: Oct 01, 2014

Just gave my 2 weeks without giving a justification.  Upon reciept, I was asked why.  I decided I'd give my why on the high road, but man was it tempting to just let it all fly in a manner be fitting a swarm of angry bees.  Here's my response.

In the years I've been with the company, the corporate culture has changed dramatically.  I feel as though M*Modal is no longer a good match for where I am currently nor where I'm going in the future.  I value open dialogue, horizontally and vertically, and M*Modal is sorely lacking in that regard.  The company promotes teamwork and cohesiveness, but does not live up to its own standards.  My goal from day one has been to move up and be a valuable asset to the company, and I feel that I have not been afforded the opportunity to do those things.  Frequent changes from C-level regarding policies and procedures as well as too frequent changes in accounts, teams, and guidelines leave too much room for errors, costly errors.  With the increasing percentage of reports types, clients, and dictators being shuffled offshore, many domestic accounts are left scrambling to fill time.  I've been lucky to have very little down time, but I'm afraid that this will not always be the case.

With my skill set, education, and drive to do bigger things, I have to move where the opportunity is, and that opportunity clearly is not with M*Modal any longer.

That was excellent! You still managed to tell - them off, but in a "nice" way.

Tomorrow is my last day but I started with another company. They're program seems a little harder but they have production bonuses, mostly straight typing, getting some VR started. Worried about catching on to their program and rebuilding all of my expansions!

I have. - CT

I have seemingly stumbled onto the Holy Grail -- straight typing, higher line rate than MM (I know, not terribly difficult), M-F only, 23-hour window to complete minimum line count instead of shift work... Oh, best part - they know my name! I could've done without all the rest just to be a real person again!

Would you mind sharing what new company you went to? If you would rather, you could e mail me instead of posting it here. I have been applying at a few different places, just curious if one of them is the one you are talking about.

This May Be The End Of The Road
Aug 04, 2011

Usually, when we get a new CEO, they at least pretend that we are "valued employees."  This guy makes no such pretense, says our quality is the same as India's and that they will be sending more and more to India. I know someone said before the goal was to send the vast majority of work to India by the end of 2011. I'm old and tired, live in the boondocks where there aren't a lot of jobs. Have some feelers out, but nothing so far.  So depressing. ...

My Road To Code...
Feb 25, 2011

Hi coders,  I'm an MT with many years of experience and am trying to break into coding and billing.  I am starting with an on line course to get the basics and overview of the process. When I am done with that I will take a class at my community college to refresh and hopefully network.  Does this sound like a good plan to anyone?  Anything to recommend to be supplementing so I will do well on whatever certification tests are necessary when the time comes?  Thanks! ...

MTing In An RV On The Road
Mar 18, 2011

I'm interested in chatting with anyone who might be doing MT work on the road in an RV or motorhome.  This might be in my future soon and I am curious about the logistics of this.  I've been working at home for 19 years so would love to keep this great job while seeing some sights in the USA and still working. Please get in touch if you have any information! Thanks   ...

On The Road Satellite Connection?
May 27, 2015

Does anybody know if there are any companies that let you work from satellite or is that illegal now due to HIPAA? Years ago I looked into this and there was a tiny list of companies but it was dwindling so don't know now. Might be taking off in an RV and was wondering if anybody works that way with a satellite dish attached or some other method? Somebody that works like this wrote to me a long time ago and told me she has some little gadget she plugs into her computer and it provide ...

High VR Producers Who Do 400-700 LPH, Can You Say
Jan 24, 2010

I know some of you have taken a bashing, but I'm a believer and admire your skill.  I am curious about your definition of a line and how long you've had the same account(s).   I think most posters assume lines are defined at 65 characters including spaces, but that's not always the case (especially for those who work directly for hospitals or clinics, which many times are 60-character lines or less and include headers, footers, demos, etc.)   Can you give us an ide ...

To High Producers On M*Modal
Nov 04, 2010

I wondered if any of you who are good at M*Modal can give me some good pointers on getting faster with this program.  I have been working on it for about 6 months and don't feel I am gaining any speed on it at all.  The whole thing for me is having to reattach the cursor to the highlighter that is giving me the most trouble.  It is just awkward and such a stretch to hit that F12 key to reattach each time I have to make a correction.  I would be forever grateful!! :) &nb ...

Regarding What Constitutes High Production -sm
Jan 19, 2011

Thanks all for your thoughts on the "salary/wage expectations" thread below.  I am still hoping to see more opinions on the subject, but there were some references to production and even "high producers," hence my query concerning what you all think constitues a "high producer" versus average.  I am inclined to consider 200 lines per hour as a good producer but not high.  What are your thoughts - understanding, of course, that all accounts differ in difficulty.  However, wean ...

For Those With High Line Counts-
Jan 29, 2015

I pulled up some old posts on here for line count averages, etc. I am seeing the high producers really utilize their word expander programs (work smarter, not harder). Do any of you have any websites that can help with tips for utilizing it? Do any of you use medications in the expander (I do not)?? Tips for using it/remembering what you enter (that's my problem)? Do any of you use it on VR and actually produce more b/c of it? I usually straight type and find on VR I do not really use my ex ...

Mar 17, 2010
