Wireless keyboard - kathy

Posted: Oct 26, 2014

Does anyone have a preference for a wireless keyboard? I'm looking for pros and cons. I bought a Logitech K360 but it's too compact for me. I need the bigger keys like my old keyboard. Is the wireless keyboard and mouse a better deal than just the keyboard? I already have a wireless mouse. Or would it be best to replace both? Thanks for your opinons.

I think on Sundays people don't check the board as much, Kathy. Also, probably nobody on the board has experience with a wireless keyboard. I sure don't. My co-worker at the university has one and likes it, but she's not a transcriptionist. I imagine it would have the same touch and feel of a wired keyboard.

Wireless IMO not worth it. - sm

I tried one about 2 years ago. When I went to buy it I had reservations about battery life, but the salesman assured me it wouldn't be an issue. He was on the computer "all the time."

Unfortunately I did not think that through and realize that his "all the time" in no way translated to my ALL the time, as in 8 hours of constant keyboard activity, sometimes more.

I was changing batteries at least once a week. Tried rechargeable and that was worse. Maybe things have changed since then.

If it plugs into USB port, it is not wireless. - nm

I've been using one for over 4 years, full time MT and all my personal use. It came as a set with the mouse. You use 1 USB port, plugs in the size of a very small thumb drive, and that's all that is necessary.

I have to change batteries about every month and a half. I use rechargeables. In fact, I just got a new laptop and have not replaced the keyboard or mouse, just plugged in the little doohickey and still using same keyboard.

I have only used the Logitec wireless keyboards - as one said, plug that wireless thumb into the USB in the back of the computer and I am not on my 3 or 4th of the logitec series. I wear them out. I keep one for about 2 years. Purchase the replacement plan and they replace wear and tear and they have now replaced all mine. no questions. I do not replace the batteries much, cannot remember when I last done that. The mouse battery wears faster than the keyboard. I say go for it. I use the slight wave to the keyboard as it helps carpal tunnel and give the hands ease when typing.

Sorry Kathy, been off the board since Friday. I have an ergonomic wave Microsoft cordless keyboard and I love it. The keys are a good size and it is a full size keyboard. I just went full time, so I have used it only 6 hours a day prior to now and only had to replace the batteries once a month. I got it at Office Depot and it came in a combo pack with a mouse. It has a little remote plug-in for the USB port, but no cords at all. I hope this helps.

Does anyone have or know of where to get wireless headphones.  My cat has chewed through the wires of 3 sets of headphones (at $18 each its getting expensive).  After the first 2 sets I have been putting them in a drawer when not in use, but the cord sticks out of the drawer attached to the computer and she found her way around the box while I was watching TV and now my third set is gone.  Within seconds she chews right through the cord.  So, since there are wireless keyboard ...

Wireless Mouse
Dec 01, 2011

I am just wondering if any of you are using a wireless mouse and how they are working for you?  I currently use a wired mouse and have for centuries.  Since I use mine more than most people, it seems, they do not last.  I am having difficulty finding wired mouse any longer due to being outdated.  I am hesitant in getting a wireless because wireless tends to slow me down with a second of lag.  Those seconds add up and I am just wondering how beneficial they are.  Any ...
