Do you give a notice when you quit a job - due to lack of work?

The last 3 jobs I have had, the work would dwindle and dwindle to the point where I was making about $100 bucks a week. I would apply/test and get a new job and never even tell the old company I quit and they never even ask!! Eventually, I guess they remove me from their mailing list, because I stop getting the emails. I feel like if the company communicated with me about the lack of work, just give me a heads up or let me know what is going on, I would be more thoughtful of a notice or something, but they don't. I know they could say bad things about me to future employers, but really I'm not sure they would say good things anyway if I quit due to the fact that I refuse to sit and wait for work. Do you guys give a 2-week notice or do you just let it go?

have given notice AND gone to work somewhere else during your notice periods. Maybe dropped in a couple of times during each shift.

Companies are often unwilling to invest attention in people until they've shown they'll repay it, so they let those so inclined go easily. That doesn't mean the mode of leaving doesn't finally make it into personnel files.

I did the same thing. I applied for another job because of lack of work, I even wrote them a resignation letter. They didn't even notice my resignation letter until 3 weeks later. I didn't get the other job because the program messed with my computer. But your previous job cannot say anything bad about you, under penalty of law. They can only say that you worked there and for how long. I learned this at a career workshop a couple months ago.

Wouldn't it be nice to see us all give our 2 weeks notice at the same time. McDonald's workers can go on strike, but we can't. We don't even get minimum wage, so they have to give us MUP.
