Bureau of office services - see message - Anonymous

Posted: Oct 13, 2010

They were advertising for a VA account and a radiology account on October 7 or 8 but it appears as if all the posts have been removed.  Is this a legitimate company?  I checked out their web site, it looked okay to me.  Does anyone have any information that they would be willing to share?  Thanks

The 10/6 ad for AC and VA is still there. I applied for the RAD account, but you're right, I don't see it.

I applied for the RAD account too but could work on other accounts. I thought they sounded good; maybe it's just too soon to tell, thanks for writing.

I currently work for the Bureau. I have been with this company for almost one year. Yes there is a radiology, and a lot of radiology and other work, both for the VA that you need clearance for an for a huge hospital in California (where all the radiology work is). I currently transcribe radiology, VA and on our new account. It is a good place to work, never any issues with late pay. They are very professional and the managers are great.

Thanks for the uptake, I hope I hear from them!

I was hired to transcribe and QA VA accounts for this company. The work was very sporadic, and the transcription and QA managers were terrible to work with. The communication was horrible. The transcription manager said that I would have to promise not to work with any other company, I was guaranteed an employee position which was an empty promise, and the list goes on. The final straw was when I refused to enter a term in a report that was incorrect. I explained that the term they were telling me to use was not the correct one (it was a military term that I knew I had correct and theirs was wrong), and the next e-mail I received from the transcription manager was that one of my e-mails in communicating with her contained a misspelled word, which she felt was an indication that my work was not up to par, either. I was absolutely shocked that someone would assert something so stupid, especially since this woman had to retract one of her own e-mails the week before because she confused so many MTs due to all of the errors in it. Typical, though. They're in the wrong but start fabricating problems with the transcriptionist's/editor's work quality. I'm glad to be away from them. Also, BOS is a family owned and operated business, employing relatives left and right, and I do not like that as a rule anyway. I hope you RUN from them. This is not a good place to work. Good luck whatever you decide.

Thank you for your honesty. I'm sure you're familiar with the expression; if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You're welcome. I'm happy to help you. :) I wish you God speed in finding the right job. I'm sure you already know that divine intervention is always a good thing, especially in this industry where there are so many wolves and dishonest companies. All the best.

Need To Convert From Office 2013 To Office 2010
Apr 26, 2014

I'm starting with a new company next week.  My Windows 7 PC has Office 2013 Professional.  The new company's platform is only compatible with 2010 or earlier.  I don't have the money to spend on 2010, so I'll either have to decline the offer or try to find a way to install 2010 cheaply.  I thought I might be able to download a version for free, since it's not the newest version, but it doesn't look like I can do that.  Any ideas? ...

Bureau Of Labor Statistics Inaccuracy?
Jan 13, 2014

I'm a pretty new MT. I've only been working for about a year. I didn't know how little I was going to make when I trained for this--more or less minimum wage. If one were to research it even today on the Internet, they wouldn't know either by looking at government site Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to its site, the median wage in May,2012 is $34,020. That would make it about $18.00 hour, which I'm sure would make you all stop complaining. So has medical tran ...

Advice How To Get Into An Office

Any advice on how one would go about getting into a doctor's office/clinic office.  The classifieds locally do not seem to post jobs for offices and the websites for the hospitals are for jobs within the hospital.  There must be a way I can use my transcription experience to get a desk job doing the phones and appointments and maybe a little transcription at a pediatric/orthopedic/whatever office.  I have been without a contract for 4 weeks and I have a few little pick up job ...

Frustrating Day At The UE Office

They really didn't know anything about it. The counselor put my social security number into his computer and then said I wasn't "coming up." Well why woul ...
