October Fiesa/QA changes?? - sm

Really tempted to move on to another company, but Nuance has bought up the last 2 I tried that on.   Now kind of curious to stay and see if any any changes the changes they hinted at for October will be good.

To put it this way - could they get worse?

Nah, don't answer that. Yes, of course they could, but you have to hope that they are finally wising up to the fact that you can't hire anybody off the street to do this and do it well, despite the many claims to that effect.

One can only hope, I guess. I would be happy with no bonuses, but instead maybe tiered pay (come on, throw us old timers and long time employees a bone, Nuance), and QA that does not financially penalize.

Frankly, I am so sick of getting my potential for any bonus at all pulled out from under me at the last minute I have given up hope and frankly I am doing absolutely NOTHING different than I always have, except maybe searching "year" with every job to make sure the x-year-old matches up with the demographics.

To me, FIESA is NOT something that "teaches" me or "helps" me, it is simply something that "penalizes me financially" and "disincentivizes me" to do any OT or extra hours at all.

I guess the above is too much to hope for, but anyone who has ever done this job would realize how bad the FIESA strategy is, and I guess that's probably why they probably never even had one of us consulting, which is very sad, for them and us.

One can only hope - that things get better AND/OR they don't get any worse.

In my opinion, the company is deplorable. Appears to me that QA and TL pick and choose work, we have the left overs, (to which I quit doing any OT way back on, bad enough to get whats left for 40 hours a week yet alone do more). We get dinged on what they won't do, and whether we agree or not, which effects our pay, doesn't change. Our pay is based on what we produce. How can one produce with the variables of getting same difficult dictators while good ones keep disappearing way below on the list and the bad ones are back to back lining in a row as the good ones disappear, drafts are at least 50% editing anymore, dictators not doing their part to start with, sound quality is bad, and of course, not enough work, which OT is always open .....will stop here, why bother. Not like they are going to do anything. They haven't yet, and I don't see that changing.

Also, my opinion, more and more nonproduction based work that we do not get paid for, INCLUDING Fiesa. Fiesa was not in the plans when wages were dropped/changed when they "acquired" Webmedx, and several other companies.

So agree about time spent on Fiesa not being figured into our rate reduction wages.

Fiesa punishes us twice.
1. You take a licking on quality for bull crap stuff. Enough to keep the bonus money in their pockets and not ours.
2. You lose more of your personal time (without pay of course) reviewing this fiasco crap and challenging if you choose.

Waiting to see what October brings and then I have to seriously quit complaining and make a move. Life is too short to be so unhappy.

Well said. Another thing, when out of work, notice now we have to log back in and wait 15 minutes on the clock each time? How was THAT figured into our pay from years ago? And HOW are we making any money on the clock NOT typing?

...in addition to everything that was written above and written before, is every single day we're getting these new tips and suggestions to do this, change that, but only if this or only if that. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't have a brain like HAL and can't possibly remember all these things. Incidentally, these things are NOT written in account specifics. We MUST remember them. Yeah, all this for peanuts. If there is no good news on October 1, I will be leaving as well. I came from Webmedx and have tried to weather the storm, but this is pure and simple abuse on the part of the employer. Nuance is a bully and an abuser and should be branded as such out there in the real world where everyone can see.

so it may be worth it to just wait and see, or to start testing with other companies say the last week of September. Then, if you feel the changes are worth staying for, you have not been hired and neither you nor the company are out much. If the changes cause a bunch of transcriptionists to jump ship, you are ahead in the hiring line.

The problems I see with this, we have not been told exactly when in October the changes will be announced and there is still the overall question of whether or not transcription is a worthy pursuit or if another type of employment would just be better in the long run.

I took on a part time job several months back not only for the extra money but mainly because of these changes. My secondary company is a lot more tolerant and their QA is lower and I never hear from them so I can switch to full time with them if need be. Wait and see what happens. I love my account with Nuance and my main complaint is FIESA. The pay scale is the same everywhere so no sense to complain about that.

Is it just me or does anybody else leave a blank and send to QA and they still give send you a message saying you made a major error over something you sent to QA. This has happened a lot. I'm going to start a list of everything I send to QA and see if it comes back to me as an error. Is there a way to look at the pending messages we have sent to them. Or even relisten to the dictation once they say you made an error in it.

They just take your report and go through it with a fine tooth comb just because to catch an error would be gravy - two birds with one stone, get you for pending it which I imagine is as time consuming for them as for us, and get you on any little teeny error they can find - and I have come to believe they can ALWAYS find some error, even if it is a very small word missed or something the doctor said that was ambiguous and you were supposed to know what he meant.

I am VERY careful what I pend because I know it's open season on that. I would typically leave MORE blanks than usual to make as perfect a document as possible.

Lovely to think you have to go to battle against your own co-workers every day, who are supposed to be "helping" you, isn't it?

On my platform I am able to re-listen and see the work, but I know they are all different. Sometimes if you put a question out on Spark in your group with those doing similar work you can get a response.

I work for Transcend and we are scheduled to be paid October 9th, but Monday, October 8th is Columbus Day and a federal holiday which means banks are closed.  So will this push pay day up to Wednesday the 10th?  I haven't worked here very long and wanted to know.  Just wonder if the holiday would effect the pay date?   ...

I hadn't heard much about this, but with all the problems they are having hiring and training, offering bonuses to sign on, etc.  maybe (I might be dreaming) the changes will be for once to our benefit.  Plan on sticking it out to see for sure.  Call me a fool or an optimist --we will see which in October. ...

How frigging nitpicky can they be???? I knew I shouldn't have looked at my FIESA from Saturday but I did.  Majority are 100% so for that I am grateful but THEN there are the others where you are marked off for stuff that make no sense and then there are the stupid errors that I did and will own up to and wonder where my brain was when I was typing - I think my brain was so worried about being marked off for every little thing that I honestly can't concentrate sometimes like I need to. ...

I know we complain and complain about this on here and we fight and argue with the TLs about this...I was marked off half a point for EACH blank that I left on a dictation that the tape cut out.  The only explanation from QA was that "it was clearly understood".  I am just wondering how it was clearly understood.  I went back and listened to the tape and sure enough where I had blanks, the tape was cutting out.  So why am I being marked off for blanks.  Then on a few ot ...

Okay, first quarter FIESA reviewed about 80 reports of mine and I actually got my incentive.  Now for this quarter, I am wavering on not getting my incentive with a 98.88 and for the past few weeks they have not reviewed a single one of my reports.  I smell something fishy.  This whole FIESA thing is to a) review enough reports a quarter so you fall below 99 and then b) if you are below 99, stop reviewing reports so you are stuck there with no chance to bring it up!  How fric ...

our post-audit reports are randomly pulled.  If you score high enough to get the bonus, your reports are gone through by the hatchet queens in India until they can find a report they can "audit" to bring you below 99%.  If you are kicked back to 98.99%, they still meet their contract requirements to the client, and Nuance does not have to pay you a bonus.  ...

I almost always get my critical errors on one particular doctor who I think I understand and then it turns out I miss something.  I think there is a way to do a report on critical errors and see if I can trend the dictator but I can't figure out how.  Does anybody know?  And before you tell me to ask my TSM I did but as usual never got an answer. ...

Much as I dislike FIESA and all this QA, what I really hate is finding out I've been typing something WRONG for 30 years.  The only thing I can say for myself is some QA decades ago filled it in for me and I didn't look it up.  Been typing Campo's fascia instead of Camper's fascia. Took a 1-point post-audit hit on it, too.  Shakes me up, what else have I been doing wrong for 30 years?  And will it knock me out of bonus territory next quarter... ...

I must admit, I never looked at FIESA, not only because it was depressing and humiliating, but its not the most user friendly site. My manager was constantly badgering me for not looking at it though and actually had me try to get on the other day when she called. How do other people get away with not looking at it? Just for "fun," I counted how many times I prevented a critical patient safety error today by catching the speaker saying the wrong age, gender, right vs. left, hyper versus hypo, you get the picture.  I quit counting at 8.  Never in my many years at Nuance have I made 8 CPSEs in 1 day.  So are we getting credit for the good work we do?  Not very likely. ...

Got a report back below 99%--Actually 98.7% with only 0.25 point reduction...for what?  Not typing DICTATION ENDS HERE on a report that only had part of the first sentence dictated....and I have to sign off that I reviewed this?  The report was sent to NHR for review with a note--INCOMPLETE DICTATION.  Okay, next time I type dictation ends here, but scoring this is ridiculous.  Why is this even an error--should have just been an  FYI--the report was never going to make i ...

I was having a good day, until I went into Fiesa...I have decided that one particular dictator--who speaks what he probably considers fluent English (He is American), is going to review for every report because he is the one I get poor scores on... I am constantly guessing if he said "and" or "in" or "on," and I missed a period....he backtracks, leaves words out, stumbles, and CANNOT pronounce even the simpelist of medications...let alone spell them, he spells them wrong too, hard to even under ...

The more they ding me for stupid stuff, the more mistakes I make. I know their goal is to prevent us from getting the quarterly bonus and I've never been able to get it anyway, so why try?
