new pay compensation plan..sm - confused

Posted: Oct 14, 2014

Can someone please explain to me this new email we all got this afternoon about the new pay compensation plan rolling out in December? Can anyone explain it a bit more in detail. Sounds like our pay will not be the same amount anymore as in no more cpl that we were used to? Sounded like to me it will be based on quality and working weekends/nights, etc. Is this something good? Email wasn't in detail too much and a little hard to read. I dont have time to go through it right now. Thanks!

Nothing to explain. sm - Beats Me

[ In Reply To ..]
They didn't give us enough information to figure out what this means. As usual with this company. Can't they just spit it all out at once rather than leave us hanging?

Already, I find it a poor choice of names for the program. JMO

Sounds like there is a base line rate - ac

[ In Reply To ..]
Then a quality incentive and a night and weekend incentive, not sure how that is different from now besides the weekend incentive. No max, seems a bit far. We will see what that is about.
Base rate will likely be LOWER, and the - "incentives" just tidbits on long sticks.

Yep. 2000 MLS chasing a carrot is all it is - A big exciting carrot.

Of course, it is all predicated upon having work--sm - anon

Nothing in the email states anything about getting paid to sit and wait for work that is not there.

I have seen a ton of complaints on here about OOW- I used to get OOW during different times and especially around holidays and during summer. Now- they have revised a lot with the accounts and have me on quite a few so I do not run out. It looks to me like they are going to be doing that now and putting everyone on more so they do not get OOW. So maybe some good news for that..

So confusing - read it several times - newbutold

[ In Reply To ..]
So stupid - Send us something in PLAIN ENGLISH that we can understand. Don't double talk yourself so much that neither you or us understand it. Whatever!!! I will work like I always have and you can take me or leave me I guess. I work hard every day and work my schedule such as I can when there is work to be had. I strive for quality everytime I type. I take your words with a grain of salt. I have another job and may end up going with them full time if this gets worse then what it already is.

Notice pg 2 states info from mgrs coming - over next couple of weeks re line rate for

[ In Reply To ..]
grid cells. My prediction is line rates going down across the board as the base and then you need to build from there with quality, direct submission, etc. Was anyone really part of the In-Touch program mentioned ?

Further info from mgr is a joke. Mine is too busy planning - next vacation and sharing recipes.

[ In Reply To ..]
She won't have time for this.

Yeah how much vacation time do they get anyway? sm - acuteMLS

[ In Reply To ..]
Mine's always off work, going here and there, I know they can't get as little time as I get off.

ALL MT company supes are like that: Recipes, - vay-cay pix, unresponsiveness.
[ In Reply To ..]
They probably won't even hire someone for the job unless they have a big collection of recipes.

yes thats whats confusing!..sm... - confused

[ In Reply To ..]
The grid thing and pay for it had me so confused. Yes, sounds like that might be what will happen.

"In-Touch" sounds totally OUT-of-touch. - Typical MTSO double-talk. nm

[ In Reply To ..]

It means nothing without numbers - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
The whole e-mail is nothing more than a warning that there is more to come, without the numbers of how it affects us individually, the whole thing is pointless unless the point is to make us worry more.

It does sound like a base rate.... - and then have to build from there

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know why it has to be made so complicated. So if you get docked on quality, then only get base pay. If you don't produce enough, then only get base pay? It seems like too many hurdles to go through to build pay? Very confusing.

To me it does not sound like anything different than anything else--sm - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I do not see how it is an industry first. Being compensated for evening and weekend work is the same as a shift differential. Companies have had production and quality bonuses/incentives for a while. There was a time when accounts were paid according to their level of difficulty. Even now in theory, there is in theory now limit to how much you make, etc. Does not sound like anything new to me.

agreed nm - confused

[ In Reply To ..]
nm

It's probably just another ruse to lower pay, tricking - MTs into thinking pay is the same.

[ In Reply To ..]
Rather than wait around, wasting more time waiting to see what they do to us next, I think the smartest thing anyone can do is find a job - any kind of job - and get out of MT ASAP. It's all going to come to a head, and soon.
Agreed! - Sherlock
[ In Reply To ..]
Quality 2.0 + new compensation plan = even poorer MTs. We will all be making less than minimum wage. Got 3 applications with resumes out today alone. I am on a mission.

I don't understand why they can't just spell it all - out. Bottom line for us is pay. We

[ In Reply To ..]
need to know we can feed our kids and keep the lights on. Maybe in India they can feed a family of 10 on $1.00 a day, but that ain't happening here.

Transparency you say? HA! There is no transparency, only confusion. Nuance, you would have done better releasing the information when it was thought out completely and all the facts regarding bottom line - MONEY, were included.

Who are these 2000 contacts you made and gathered info from? It sure wasn't anyone in this country.

Funny how they're rolling out the new plan on December 25... - mtnest

On December 25th... really? lol I also thought I saw something like more $ for harder dictators. I guess just wait and see. I hate how they do that and only give us a little info at a time. I already took a pay cut when we merged with Nuance. I hope it doesn't equal out to be another one.

And who determines - who the harder dictators are

Christmas announcement offensive! - what are they thinking?
[ In Reply To ..]
Christmas is for God and family. It is not for announcements from Nuance Communications.

Our compensation is not a Christmas present. It is our pay and we are not 4 years old. Just announce it now or send us an email. We are not going to get excited about this because we know you too well. Do you have to jump through hoops to find out what your pay is? Does your boss give you hints for a few months before letting you know about your income? Do you have to jump up and down and get excited for your pay?

It is disrespectful to make people wait to hear about their own pay.

The only thing we want is a base pay increase, so anything else is not going to get us excited, no matter how much smoke and how many mirrors you use.
It speaks to the collective sociopathy of the company sm - acuteMLS
[ In Reply To ..]
that they would think Christmas Day would be a fabulous day to reveal another one of their crummy ideas. Way to ruin a holiday. Not to mention our entire Christmas season being ruined by the dread of this big exciting reveal. It's sick, just totally sick of them to do this to us.
The healthiest thing we can do is to get real with - ourselves and not just assume, but KNOW - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
that this is not going to end well for the MT. Look at the muddy, veiled message. The team leader silence. And the timing: Christmas / end-of-year.

I think the best thing to do, regardless of whether you plan to stay with this evil corporation, or to get out ASAP, is to just KNOW that MT pay is going to go DOWN at Christmas. Start planning for it NOW. Cut back on holiday spending, sock away every dime you can, plan a simpler, more real and old-fashioned holiday - one that doesn't need tons of money to achieve - and work towards that.

That perspective will save you the angst, because you KNOW what's going to happen will not be good, you just don't know the details yet. Planning and saving for that inevitability NOW will put you in a position of more power over your future and your holidays. Don't let Nuance ruin them for you, plan a family holiday celebration that doesn't need money to make it happen.

Assume that you'll lose pay, or even your job, by the end of the year. That way, if it happens, you won't be blindsided by it, and will have planned for it. And if for some reason the worst DOESN'T happen, then consider that a serendipitous holiday gift.

Don't let this scumbag Grinch company ruin the fall and winter holidays for you. Take control (as much is is possible, anyway), and cut Nuance out of the equation.
Nicely said and 100% spot on. Plan and stay - a step ahead of it.

That's what I am doing - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Doing as much OT as I am allowed, taking extra hours whenever my TSM asks, paying off my debt and socking away some money and dusting off my resume. The shoe is going to drop eventually, and hopefully I'll be prepared. Not jumping ship, just putting on my life jacket.
Hope always seems to spring eternal in MTs, - no matter how often it is dashed. nm

2 years in a row right at Christmas. It's their way of getting their jollies.

QA pend questions...sm - Interested.

[ In Reply To ..]
What popped out for me is that there will be compensation for direct delivery to the client. My questions: A client specifies jobs are to be sent to QA if the acct # is not dictated, but *every* dictator on the acct omits it. Does the MT get penalized for sending to QA?

If a job is dictated on a cell phone with lousy audio, dropping words or whole sentences, does the MT get penalized for that?

It will be interesting indeed to see how they deal with pesky issues like this, and determining criteria for "difficult" dictators, etc.

It means nothing until they put some figures on it. nm - acuteMLS

Probably will make it so we can't - figure out pay aka MModal

[ In Reply To ..]
MModal or Medquist at one point had a convoluted system so that it was impossible to figure out what your pay was going to be.

This will be interesting to watch develop. I wish I could feel good about it but with these MTSOs, I have the perpetual feeling that nothing that happens is good for us ... and that the other shoe is always close to falling.

They should not have said ANYTHING until they were ready to fully disclose.

That makes it a lot easier for them to cheat - their MTs out of pay. :(

They have to do something to address minimum wage. sm - Not so Fast

[ In Reply To ..]
At least 15 states are increasing their minimum wage as of year end or have just increased in the last quarter of 2014. If they actually lower our base pay, they would be losing a lot more employees.

They sure do and what do you want to bet that - is to add another grid that increases

[ In Reply To ..]
the production requirement to meet minimum wage. They're not stupid. All this is probably in anticipation of min wage issues. It then puts it on the MLS' back. They're not meeting min production and min wage, so basically it'll be good-bye. The more they can eliminate that way instead of having to layoff, the lower their unemployment rating will be. Remember, for those acquired by Nuance, that slash in wages also came effective 12/25. That compensation plan was being sold as "exciting" also.

They're already planning for increased min. wage - by finding new ways to circumvent it.

[ In Reply To ..]
What if you live in a state/city where the min. wage has been raised to $12-15/hour? No way are they going to pay that. Just no way. So, like they all do with everything else, they'll just find some new ways to employ their fuzzy math to make sure the numbers always add up in their favor.

4/8 - is your new rate

[ In Reply To ..]
They will claim this is standard ADHI/Benchmark. Your work is now going to India. Quality going to 99.5. They want you to quit or hang on and get terminated. It looks good on paper.

Wise up. They are following the MModal model. Ask a former MModal MT, or just read the misery blogs on MModal site. You're deluded.

Namaste!

Uh, 4/8 it is our current rate. If you had read this board you would know - anon

[ In Reply To ..]

Rates - mtnest
[ In Reply To ..]
As far as I know, rates are across the board 4/8 for clinic and 4.5/8.5 for acute.

I bet it goes even lower... 3/7 or worse.

They won't care who quits for a pay decrease. More work for India, more money in the higher-ups pockets.
Compared to other companies, 4/8 is relatively - high. It will likely go lower than that.

New Pay Compensation Plan
Dec 01, 2014

Since 2012, when Nuance "officially" took over the company I was with, they following has been very consistent. 1) Cut pay, then offer some type of carrot (incentive, bonus) to help us "make up" the loss in line rate. QA us to death for any little error, calll it a major error or a critical error to lower our quality score so that we cannot make 'incentive' or 'bonus.' If we do re-read the reports in order to bring quality scores up, our lines go down, and then it is a sum z ...

Dec 14, 2014

This morning I checked my work email, as I have been off the last few days.  I found a new email titled "Update to 2015 Patient Safety Compensation Plan for the Bayscribe Platform."   They have decided now that after you figure your C-LPM, anyone straight typing in Bayscribe will need to apply a platform factor of 0.88, in other words, subtract 12% of your lines.  Their example was if you type 1000 lines, multiple x 0.88 and you will only get credit for 880 lin ...

At Nuance, the caste system THRIVES. The deception of this company is criminal. For the last year, the QCs were required to meet the company standard metrics of 150+ LPH, quality of 99% or higher, schedule adherence of 99%. If you failed to meet any portion of the metrics one week, you received a verbal warning; two weeks, you were moved to the Performance Action Plan.
