Since 2012, when Nuance "officially" took over the company I was with, they following has been very consistent.
1) Cut pay, then offer some type of carrot (incentive, bonus) to help us "make up" the loss in line rate. QA us to death for any little error, calll it a major error or a critical error to lower our quality score so that we cannot make 'incentive' or 'bonus.' If we do re-read the reports in order to bring quality scores up, our lines go down, and then it is a sum zero.
2) Did the above in January 2012. In December 2012, accounced a new 'pay plan' that would be 'oh so much better' and would begin January. Then suddenly January became December 22.
3) This year, they created a structure that we would gradually be introduced to that, according to the e-mail sent in November, would have a base line rate, with various ways to increase our scores (you can decide), plus increased ability for more PTO. That would roll out on December 25. Suddenly December 25 became December 6. Suddenly the base pay disappeared completely as did the extra PTO. The weighting factors are completely and totally subjective based upon ????? (I strongly suspect no input will come from the TSM or from anyone who actually really works on the account). They said they will use the current quality indices (they are currently running the old quality indices and the new ones simultaneously, so it is anyone's guess what the current quality indices are, new ones or old ones).
The communication in November stated they will audit a minimum of 2% of each MLS volume. Well, they have exactly 3 days left to audit 800 of my lines or another 30 of my reports. I don't think that will happen.
It seems that the ethical and moral (and perhaps even legal) thing to do is come right out and say the field is dying and they have to cut our pay to keep the accounts rather than destroy our self-image completely by nit picking or going back and forth with put in the comma, leave it out, split the diagnosis, don't spit it, etc.
It seems the moral and ethical thing to do (and perhaps even legal) is to stick to their written statements rather than just not do what they said in writing they would do, because it unfortunately is keeping them from getting any employees but newbies (nothing wrong with newbies but it does take awhile to get the ins and outs of online on your own transcription), and sending their current employees away with a mass exodus.
There are a LOT of minimum wage jobs out there wherein the boss does not demoralize you, destroy your self-image, make you work off the clock (check Fiesa and your time card on your own time), and where you don't have to simultaneously multi-task mentally with 5 different things at the same time. I feel this time they really shot themselves in the foot. Regardless of how good the pay is, I doubt that too many budgets can withstand a floating paycheck wherein every paycheck you have no earthly idea how much money you will make.
Yep, this time they shot themselves in the foot.
I will send them a calendar this year. Seems their calender is missing a few weeks.
