For years I always had high audit scores - I came to Nuance through

Posted: Dec 17, 2012

like most of us, a buyout. Loved the company I worked for. Then Nuance took over-changes being made-my scores started going down. Worked hard to get them back up-now I am getting marked for major errors that I KNOW I did not make-I feel 100% confident after all these years I would not be making these kinds of mistakes. Yet, in the last couple of months I have had more errors and some major errors that even a rookie MT would not be making, let a lone an experienced one. No, I am not perfect and never claimed to be, but names of patients, vitals, medicines-I don't make that kind of mistake. Is this just me, or are we seeing more and more "errors" than ever before? If the plan here is to get the ones who have built up some benefits to get out of the business they are doing a great job at Nuance-that is exactly what I am in the process of doing-holding on until I have all the pieces in place to say goodbye to a job I used to love but Nuance turned into a nightmare for me and my family.

I am - making

a lot of errors also. I blame it on the stress of the job, the micromanaging, the constant rule changes, the day-to-day wondering if I'm going to have work, errors marked for commas, told to do it one way, then another and a big one, VR. We tend to read what we hear and I miss a lot of stuff doing this. Also, we are getting the lousy dictators and the good dictators are sent to India. I am literally a basket case anymore on this job. You can't focus when all this stuff is going on.

The reason for low audits is they do that on purpose so they - dont have to pay production bonus. nm

Like I said on here before, they are in control of who and who does not get bonuses.
I saw my psych (I posted above, didn't want to believe it) - sm

And when I told him I lost my bonus, he was livid. He knows I am devoted to my job and anyone would be lucky to have me as an employee. He was the one who needed medication when I was through w/that office visit, lol. j/k

I completely agree. Sometimes it seems like they can be quite "creative" in finding errors. It is obviously done to manipulate hours, benefits, etc.

This is why I won't try for the 100% bonus, even though I'm very good - and would love to earn it. If

[ In Reply To ..]
it's so easy for them to knock people down a full percentage point to below 99% whenever they want to massage the balance sheet columns, how hard is it going to be to drop 100% to 99.9%? After a person has devoted a full 3 MONTHS to earning it?

BTW, I've never been "paranoid" and have always been very slow to recognize the worst, but I recognize it here and have my own experience to underline it. The fact that they require employees to EARN production bonuses--but not be paid for them--for a full 6 pay periods after falling below 99%, instead of 1 pay period as in other companies, is a flagrant indicator anyone should be able to recognize for what it is. Each time, that's 6 pay periods of incentive pay EARNED BUT NOT PAID. 7 if the QA drop below 99% was unjust.
I had always gotten the bonus. Poof, it's gone. - nm

dropping audit scores - and insane "major errors"

[ In Reply To ..]
I am with you there...as an experienced MT I know there are errors that are "found" that I know that I did not do. For some of them, VR, I will remember changing what the VR had and putting the correct wording in and low and behold I will get a major error email showing me that I never changed the VR. This is happening more now than ever. A major error to them is now if you do not put in "the, a, an", as well as a missed comma or they feel a comma should or should not go there, everything literally is a major error. If you type addendum in all capital letters b/c now all the sudden it is to be in lower case, then you are charged a major error. If you break up a run on sentence and make a sentence grammatically correct, then you are also charged a major error for not typing verbat; however, if you do not change the run on or do not correct the grammar you are also charged a major error for not doing so. They make up the rules as they go. Either way you do something, you are wrong and they do this so they can keep our QA scores down. Keeping the QA scores down allows them to not have to pay us a bonus. They like to keep multimillion dollar bonuses to themselves and pay us pennies. I used to be able to do my job and now according to Nuance I have become stupid and cannot do my job.

While the compensation for our line rates has changed, we still are doing a lot of our work for free. Last I checked I am an employee, not a volunteer.

I'm having exactly the same problem. - nm

Nuance is Indian owned. They are CHEAP. I have 99.9% QA right now. SM - Ugh

[ In Reply To ..]
With Transcend. I KNOW I will not see those kind of scores with Nuance. I worked independently for 2 Indian doctors and about once a week they would call me into their office and ARGUE with me over just a few dollars. Once, it was over 50 cents! And these were 2 completely different offices, 2 different docs. They both did the same thing. They were cheap bast***s.

I quit. Since then, I've had off and on calls from their office as they cannot keep anyone to do their dictations. I know why.

Makes me sick to think an entire COMPANY is run by the same type of people. They are getting away with way too much and it is our fault for sticking around and working for them.

I've applied elsewhere and will be leaving here very soon.

ummmm...do some research, as they are NOT Indian owned... - js

they do have an Indian side and a US side and some Indian workers but you are thinking of Focus, who BTW was bought out by Nuance years ago, so get your facts straight!

Mmodal Inevitable Termination For Low Audit Scores....
Jul 14, 2014

Hi!  I was hoping for a little input.  I have been with Mmodal/Medquist/Spheris since 2005.  They have the new quality standards which seem to be out of reach for me. They want us to be at an unreasonable 99.7.  Even today, received last week's audit scores and one was 100% the other at 98.75.  I am on my 3rd corrective action for this and know I am at close to the end of my rope.  I actually would like to go back to school.  Has anyone been unintentionall ...

Do QC Reports Count For Our Post Audit Scores?
Jan 27, 2015

Last week, I had a great QA score.  I only had a couple of reports sent to QC - none of which were problematic. However, today, I had a horrible ESL report with multiple blanks.  I had to send it to QC.  They not only filled in the blanks, but graded me on it -- a whopping 96.2.  UGH!  Is that going to be counted among my post audit score for my pay rate?? ...

After Years And Years Of Being IC, Obtained Employee Status At A Co. Sm
Nov 26, 2012

Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore. The reason I thought this was because at the interview and in their professional company emails, they use all the "real job" words:  Shift, scheduled hours, overtime, PTO, benefits, etc.  I felt relieved to finally have a "job." What a big bunch of BS! I was "hired" ...

3 Years. Question: How Many More Years Do You Plan To Be An MT/editor?
Dec 20, 2013

There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? Will the industry be forced out of offshoring because of taxes? Will there be a need even for editors if VR gets better? These are all unanswered questions, but my question is, what ...

Fired For Low QA Scores : )
Oct 15, 2009

I am a medical transcriptionist with over 15 years of experience, and I was fired today for low audit scores.  I don't know why I am happy about this.  I guess I am just relieved to get away from a company that picks apart their employees.  What are they going to do when there is no one left?  Ironically, I have worked in many big hospitals and while our reports were reviewed, this would have never happened working in a hospital.  Does anyone know what is happening ...

MT Pre-Employment Testing Scores

The Scores On QC Reports Do Not Mean A Thing. You Can Ignore The Score,
Mar 01, 2015

The only thing that matters is the number of these you turn in in the first place. Take what useful correction from those, if there is any at all, and let the rest of it roll off. Do not stress out over these or attempt to reverse a QC score. As a matter of policy, they will never reverse anything on these, because the percentage score on them is meaningless. Only thing that matters is the number of them you turn in to begin with. Cutting down the number you submit is the only way to escape the ...
