My posts may get deleted, but one more thing. Some people come on here and say, don't be negative. Stay positive. Well I would if there was anything to be positive about. I'm positive because God has blessed me with a wonderful family and home and friends. I made the decision to go into MT, which I wish God would have warned me about. Actually it was great when I worked for YOG. I just should have jumped ship when it got bought by a corporation. It's all been downhill from there. You can't be positive about your career when you're denied health insurance because you can't meet a quota. I'm a diabetic and have hypertension and need my Paxil. God knows I depressed. Thank God Metformin and Paxil are generic. I'm having to do without my Diovan. I'm taking lisinopril without the HCT right now because they were given to me. My doctor gave me Lisinopril with HCT but won't renew it because I haven't been to see her. I can't afford to go to the doctor without insurance. I've only been her patient 27 years. I guess that's not long enough. But don't get me started on that. Like they say money talks, and BS walks. Well, I'm walking.
So sorry for your circumstances. I hope you are able to find the assistance you need.
You mentioned that your husband is age 62. Are you, by chance, age 60 or over yourself?
The reason I ask is that I work part-time for a non-profit organization that assists people age 60 and over find discounted drugs, along with discounts on phone bills, gas/electricity, food, etc.
You can access the national website through the link below. It will ask you for your zip code and then ask you about your finances and what drugs you take. You can answer whatever questions you feel comfortable with, but if you answer them all honestly, you have a better chance of getting the maximum assistance. At the end, they will give you a detailed list of what assistance programs you qualify for.
Some programs have income limits and some go mostly by age. Even if you, yourself, are not age 60 or over, since your husband is, it is definitely worth the time to answer the questions and see what results you get. You can do one for yourself and one for your husband, and compare to see which would give you the most options.
For example, there is one program available where people can get a 90 day supply of generic medications mailed to them at a cost as low as $20 for the 90 day supply.
There is another program where you can get a monthly discount on your landline phone and free minutes on a cell phone.
It gives you all the details and links on how and where to apply. It is really very simple and comprehensive.
It really is a great site for people who are struggling paying for healthcare and medications, and could also even give you ideas on where to go to get help with utilities and food, if that need arises.
Hope this information is of some help to you.
Good luck. I hope things get better for you.
