TransTech - good or bad? I've read positive and negative - sm - anon

posts so far, about the same amount of each. I was thinking about applying with them. I heard they have good insurance, and that's very important to me because of my situation. I also read that they have a lot of VR, and I've never done that before, but I'm going to have to learn sometime. Any positive or negative comments are welcome. Thanks!

First and foremost, let me preface this by saying I love TT. Been there a few years and on the same account with a great manager and communication is great, too, from QA to payroll to the AMs, etc. I feel I'm truly left alone to do my job and yet when I do have an issue, it's addressed immediately and professionally.

That being said, the caveat is the work flow. My account is about 95% VR on eScription. I'm quite proficient at VR so this doesn't bother me but I know it's a "deal-breaker" for some MTs, so thought I'd throw it out there since you asked. I believe they'd be willing to train you on VR if you were hired.

Now, for the major thorn in the crown, so to speak. THE WORKLOAD. As I said, I love TT so this is in NO WAY a bash on the company in general; however, the workload on my account (and from what I gather reading posts here) is it's almost a "feast or famine" situation. Some days (i.e., today my account has a huge amount of work but 3 days ago was scraping the bottom of the barrel to make my lines). It's extremely inconsistent, IMO. I actually took on a second PT position to make up the difference from what my FT pay used to be from TT. I suspect they, like so many other MTSOs, greatly overhire at times and that leaves the regulars on accounts scrambling to make the minimum line counts. I didn't want to get a second job but it became a necessity for survival. Although I'm FT and scheduled to work 5 shifts a week, at times I was finding myself chained to my chair at least 18 hours a day just trying to grab reports here and there to make my minimum count for the week in 3 days, because invariably the account (and my backup) would be out of work starting on Friday clear through until Monday. Having consistent work only 3 days per week, IMO, render me a glorified PTer.

If TT had enough work on my accounts to keep all of us busy and ensure we made our line counts every pay period, I'd recommend them without reservation; however, in light of the fluctuation in workload, I'd hesitate at this point to recommend them for someone needing a FT paycheck.

I have read so many good things about Opti-Script - tested recently but no openings right now. Low turnover rate - which is GOOD! So I'll wait.....So many slave shop companies out there - I don't want to go that route. Talked with some companies and tested with some. I've been with TransTech for about 2 years, but I'm going to back to working with people now that I'm not having to deal with military moves anymore. I thought I'd pass along to the job hunters that TransTech is a good place- they pay on time, have a good work load consistently, and not too much ESL.
