TTD- anything positive on them? - looking MT

Hi, I am new to this board, but have been searching jobs here. I applied to TTD and received new-hire package. I have been looking here at all the negative comments about them before actually figuring out what I want to do with them. My question is, are there any positive comments about them at all? I may have an opportunity later this summer at a job locally and have a job currently, but not sure if I want to hop into this if they don't pay. I don't want to be working a job that has the work, but does not want to pay. I appreciate any input on this.

If you can still contemplate giving up your current job to work for a company that has current posts about lack of pay, short pay, and reportedly groundless terminations, you really need to read those threads again. I can't comprehend what "positive" you are looking for that would outweigh all of those devastating negatives.

That is why I came in here asking. I am not going to waste my time typing for them even if they have work only to not be paid and get dumped in the end! I am glad that I investigated them here before I decided. I will keep my current job even if it is slow at times and wait on the other possibility and be patient. Thanks!

People, don't buy into anyone's posts who claim there is so much work available. The owner of TTD is a con artist and her minion is as well. They'll tell you anything to get you to work, and you will for about 3 paydays when you realize you're shorted on your check and then when you question why you're ID will be disabled. Look back in the archives and you'll see this pattern. Since March, there have been 47 people canned by this same exact method. I also think any company that is willing to hire so quickly without at least testing is shady. I was told that my experience based on my resume was the reason I didn't have to test. Then, I found out from other MTs who are in the same position that I am were told the same thing. As of today, I am owed 3 paychecks and am out of a job. And, there are several others in the same situation going back to at least March and perhaps even before then. Posts here go back a number of years from MTs who have had the same problems happen to them.

I understood that those let go were people who were not working or working very little. And there were several e-mails sent out prior regarding this issue. I have been with them for just a short time but it is extremely busy. I am not trying to inflame, just put in my 2 cents. I am reading and following the posts and I am concerned but so far I am being paid and have plenty of work.

With all the negative posts, they probably won't cut your pay at this time. Once the posts die down, and they are out of the hot seat, you will be lessened in pay. Yes, there is plenty of work - off another company, as they cannot get their own accounts. Why not work for the "host" company, rather than the "parasite." Both "key" personnel at TTQ could care less about quality and many of the so-called QA that they have, are fresh out of school (I know this for a fact)and know very little. But, just like me, you will learn the hard way. Just don't say you have not been warned.

I think your facts may need to be re-looked at. I know for a fact that a QA position with this company requires MT experience. I have recently started doing QA work for them, and I have 10+ years of MT and QA experience, so please do not paint everyone with the same brush.

it always said, "No more jobs to download" so it wasn't because we didn't WANT to work, it's because there WASN'T any work, there's BIG difference. It's good that you're concerned, because to be honest you really could be next. Just watch your production, keep copies of the reports you can generate from the platform and keep all copies of IM and email communications you have from the owner and her minion. It will be to your favor when you end up having to take legal action to get paid, just like what I'm having to do now.

Please keep in mind that just because you had a negative experience, it may have just been the account you were on that had the issues. I am on escription and have had no problems with having enough work, and have had no problems with pay at all. I am not a newbie MT, either, but have well over 10 years of experience and consider myself a quality MT who puts every effort into everything I do at all times. It is all a matter of what you put into the situation.

I strongly suggest you wait for the local job you mentioned.

First, they will give you a ton of attachments that you must learn (for several different accounts you will be assigned to). Then, they will lead you on for some time, giving you only some of the required info necessary to do your job.

I was hired to do transcription, on the weekends only. They led me on for six weeks, ie didn't give me a password, then gave me only half the info necessary to sign on. By the time I was finally able to sign on, it wasn't to transcribe. It was for editing. "No MT positions available at this time", I was told. So, I agreed. Turns out, I wasn't editing other transcriptionists work, I was editing virtual recognition,which is basically retyping the entire report!!!

They claim to have training and tech support. They lied. I have been an MT for over 15 years, but never used ChartNet, so I needed a little help getting started. The support is virtually nonexistent. Waiting 57 minutes for an answer on a log-in question is unacceptable.

My hours got cut on my other part time job, so I ended up working for TTD full time. After ten days, one of the owners got some crazy I idea that I was out to get her (????) so she "terminated" me. Then, after editing (rather re-typing) over 300 minutes of dictation, they sent me a check for $3.00! Now, they won't respond to my requests for an explanation of the payment and further reimbursement. I got a reply from another MT who also got paid $3.00 after working for TTD for ten days.

I get on this site every now and then and it is so disheartening to see so many people frustrated with their employers. I work for two different companies and I have to say I love them both. I work for OSi and I work for All Type. Both treat me fairly, respond rapidly to questions and are nice employers. Not everyone is unhappy with MT work right now. Lots of times this board is filled with much negativity and I think it is a disservice to each other. Sometimes we need to vent, but sure would like to see people with more positive things that are happening in their life post on here, and not just read on here. I think it is unfair to dissuade newcomers to the profession. Give them an accurate vision of what it is like, both pros and cons. But, I think it's wron ...

Two days in a row now of the worst ever ESL dictators. Sometimes this jobs just makes me want to SCREAM loudly but that won't solve the problem (s).
