I printed out all my emails regarding clocking off. I think the DOL will be interested to see them. Especially regarding clocking off while in a document and doing research for that report.

your PTO rate is calculated by how many lines you type per hours. So if you are not typing you should clock out or your PTO rate will go down. It would make sense for you to report it if we were being paid hourly.

And have to keep googling or going into old reports to figure things out. Not to mention all the other stuff we are told to clock off for such as filling in patient demos etc. I'm not spending 10 hours at my computer just to get my hours in.

If you want to play games just for a line count, clock out for everything, but, even doing that, with the crummy ASR I get, it wouldn't make much different.

Being told to clock off while doing research and while working on the ADT is illegal on both sides. It is working off the clock for the employee side, and for the employer, it is demanding to do work off the clock.

Working off the clock to do ADT and research is also padding your line count which is illegal.

But, hey, what's a few questionable practices between a questionable employer and employee? (Sarcasm here).

And, hey, I would like to know if someone is dumping a certain doctor's dictation back into the pool every night. Sometimes, at my dinner break, I will see a report of his come up, and then, when I come back 45 minutes later, the same report is in the system. I doubt I am the only one working 2nd shift.

It takes time to clock on and off; granted not a lot of time, but still time; who has time to do that? Seems like a stupid suggestion/mandate by the company to do so too for research, etc. I thought it was suggested at one time to have an egg timer set if you are researching something and at the end of it if you still haven't found what you are looking for, time to blank, time to send to QA, whatever, but move on. Another thing to take more money away from us with clock on/clock off I fear.

...that whether you're clocked in or clocked out, you are earning ZERO during any time that you're researching on-line, filling in demographics, looking things up in your Stedman's, checking out the client profile to see which rule this particular client wants followed, entering a referring physician's name for the cc, or taking a 60-second break to run to the bathroom to relieve your bladder.

No matter how you slice it, you are NOT getting paid for doing certain tasks that are required in order to do the job. (Even relieving one's bladder from time to time is "required" in order to be able to continue working, but I guess that could be argued.)

It IS ILLEGAL, pure and simple. Don't take my word for it--call the DOL. I hope some people rat these MTSOs out and give them penalty they deserve!

They wanted them to clock out to check their mail, research, every time they took their hands off the keyboard. Then they were expected to still achieve 8 hours of work. That is abuse and I am glad they got sued.

I just recently had to deal with my state's DOL concerning money due my hubby for prevailing wage (construction work). Including a copy of that will help you since they may try to say those were considered your "break" times. When I first started at Mmodal/Medquist, we had 2 PAID 10-15 minute breaks with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break. I think that has changed now but I never did get paid for any of those breaks anyway. I'm still with Mmodal (I refuse to quit, they'll have to fire me, I'm stubborn that way) and I can get the current policy for you if you need it, just let me know.

I'm FREE!!!!  I don't care about getting unemployment.  This job is not worth my time.  You only live once, and I want to live it happy!  Thankfully, I don't have to worry about money because of an inheritance, but I do work now for a local Radiologist for $3.00 a report and he is getting more hospitals, so I will be fine!  Mmodal is pathetic!!!!  Good luck to you all! ...

I spoke with an old colleague of mine last week from our old U of Miami's MT days who recently quit months into her new job at MModal because she said it was too much aggravation and headaches for so little pay.  She told me last week that after quitting the job, MModal called her back asking if she would come back to work for them. How hilarious! MModal thinks that folks are joking when they quit this lousy job and begs for them to come back...still with the lousy paycheck and headac ...

I was contacted recently by PF, tested again in person, set up for training (which was later rescheduled but is apparently still on), and told I have the job, but so far I have been utterly unable to get anything like an actual offer letter or anything STATING the terms of employment, like pay, PTO, basic benefit info, etc. (and I have asked and asked). Has anyone taken the CMT exam recently?  I'm taking a prep course through AHDI and wonder how similar it is to the actual exam.  I'm planning to take it in October & a little nervous after going through the prep.  I have 6 years acute care exp. & am disappointed in myself at my progress so far on the prep course. I have recently started on ChartNet.  I read reviews, which are mostly positive, and my question is why? I find it cumbersome with all the headings you have to make with the control/shift keys and entering, starting new headers, etc.  Not very fluid at all (for me anyway).  Does anyone have advice/tips on how to make this more user-friendly?  Plus I lose reports and have no idea where they go or how to get them back, so I am losing line count as well.  I was happy to read all those positive ...

Accentus?  WOW!!  That is all I can say.  The platform is so horribly slow and bulky it is pathetic.  The sound files are lousy on top of the foot pedal (or even hitting F8) not "working" when you hit it.  This was the biggest waste of time!!! ...

I would like to know who was just recently hired and how was your experience?   I for one have been hired and am not able to start until my computer meets their requirements.  So I had to put in more memory and also bring my Microsoft Word up-to-date -- 2007.  Just hope this was worth the expense.  For some reason, I have a bad feeling about the job itself.   Hopefully my fears are wrong.  Let me know what you think.   ...

Hi all - I recently took the test for Accentus, which was all editing and no straight transcription and which I didn't know would happen.  Anyway, I was not offered a job.  I thought I did pretty good on the test considering I had no foot pedal and no editing function keys but guess not.  Does anybody pass that test?  They couldn't tell me what was wrong, almost tempted to call them.  Also, need other ideas on where to apply.  Any help is appreciated.  I've got 30+ years ex ...
