Patient First recently - christine

Posted: Nov 19, 2013

Hi. I was contacted recently by PF, tested again in person, set up for training (which was later rescheduled but is apparently still on), and told I have the job, but so far I have been utterly unable to get anything like an actual offer letter or anything STATING the terms of employment, like pay, PTO, basic benefit info, etc. (and I have asked and asked). Is this normal for them or a recent development? Everything they have TOLD me in person and on the phone has been just what the PF employees on this board have said, but for some reason they don't seem eager to put it into writing. Any ideas? It has made it very hard for me to decide whether/when to leave my current (bad but stable) job. Thanks!

a stable job I wouldn't leave for PF. It may go well for a month or two then you will see all of the issues previously stated on this board by many. Unfortunately. You have to be willing to "unschool" yourself in every way to do things there way and hope to make a living...then to find a real job again is near impossible.

My opinon - Not PF

Terms of employment, i.e., pay, PTO, benefits, hours (oh, I forgot, they don't have set schedules) should have been included in the job offer as sometimes those can be deal breakers for the employee. I have never worked remotely but at all of my jobs the employer told me all of those things somewhere during the interview, but definitely when they offered me the job. I never had to get anything in writing because they usually had that information in print somewhere. Maybe when you go back for training they will review all of that with you. I agree with the other person, don't quit your other job until you are sure this is definite, maybe even keep both until you are sure it's a "go" at PF. I know that would be difficult but at least you would have something to fall back on if it doesn't work out. Good luck to you.

Would be nice, but... - anon17

PF, if they know, will not allow you to keep your current job. They made me quit all other employment and stalked me to make sure I had. Just another heads up.

I don't recall getting anything in writing until I had hired on. I think it might have been part of all of the HR paperwork or during my early training.

When I worked for an MTSO ages ago, I had things in writing, but they just changed the rules midway through and had everyone sign a new contract. It was basically, agree with this and sign or go find a new job, so not sure having things in writing in the MT field with at-will status means a whole lot anyway.

With that being said, PF is pretty informal and sort of slow to get things done sometimes. Also get the impression that the folks at admin are a bit disorganized, but the TLs are spot on, and that is who you deal with, if you hear from anyone.

I have been there a long time, and they have always been true to their word on every thing that I have ever been told. That is one of the things I like about being here, they treat you like an asset to the company with your job being part of what makes the teams at the centers work.

thanks for all the input - christine

I've been able to actually talk to somebody there and apparently they're not big on formal offer letters, etc. However, they seem willing to work with me in terms of when/if I give my current job notice. It's just scary because it's so easy to get burned doing transcription, even though they are not an MTSO...This is versus my current job, where I like the people I work with but the job itself is so stressful that it has literally given me high blood pressure/daily headaches. Oh well...

NJA Recently?
Apr 11, 2014

Just wondering how the NJA problem is since 60 of us have moved on.  We've had 2 new ILP accounts to QA (which are horrible) and 1 group hospitals that have come back from ILP land, but only recieved a small handful of MTs to compensate.  My BOB has been swamped for the past week with late jobs every night.  My TSM says that her manager said that there isn't anybody who can help out.  I was just wondering if he/she is just too lazy to actually look.  I know the ...

Anyone Else Experience This Recently?
Aug 31, 2012

For the past month, I've applied for an MT position with almost every MTSO who posts a job.  I've tested with all of them, and I don't get a call back. This is a new thing for me.  I've been in the industry over 20 years, have done every specialty plus QA. In the past when I've looked for a job I've found one in only one day.  What's up? ...

Recently Started On ChartNet
Sep 26, 2010

I have recently started on ChartNet.  I read reviews, which are mostly positive, and my question is why? I find it cumbersome with all the headings you have to make with the control/shift keys and entering, starting new headers, etc.  Not very fluid at all (for me anyway).  Does anyone have advice/tips on how to make this more user-friendly?  Plus I lose reports and have no idea where they go or how to get them back, so I am losing line count as well.  I was happy to read all those positive ...
