It could be they feel with a new name, they will do better both in recruiting staff as well as clients. Or maybe M-Model has more say in the operations now and it will become a "friendlier" place. Who knows. But it's probably a PR move.

The MQ-MM thing was a merger, not an purchase. The whole reason they went with the M*M name is because they are wanting to distance themselves from "legacy medical transcription" services in order to bill themselves as a technology services company.

I think perhaps it is also to be competitive with their biggest competitor at this point, Nuance, heavily into VR AND with the purchase of WMx, their NLP programming that WMX had been working on developing (which also will pick out pertinent words to assist with computerized coding). Kind of makes my head spin!

I started with MRC many years ago. MRC and TL (Transcription Limited) merged in the mid 1990s, I'm not sure what year. Even though MRC and TL merged, the name remained MRC and/or MRC Group. It wasn't until the late 1990s when MQ bought out MRC/MRC Group and the last of TL (Florida) that the name changed to MedQuist.
MQ has had legal problems over the years, some they inherited, some they created themselves, but it is clear that their reputation is far from sterling. This may also be a reason for the name change. The new Indian owner may consider this a fresh start, or a way to bring all of the MT companies he has acquired together. I have heard India refers to MQ as "CBay America." This may be his way of trying to end that distinction. Just a thought.

I have never posted before but have to now. My husband's company just went through a "merger". He worked for an exclusively hospice company that merged with a home care company. The home care company had a self-professed weak hospice department and the party line was that they wanted to "merge" and be "taught" how to do hospice right. All the hospice company execs became VP-types. The home care company CEO remained the CEO. They re-branded and came up with a new name and logo. The new name was exactly the same as the old home care company name with the exception of one word (which had nothing to do with the hospice company name), company colors were the same as the old home care company, and logo was similar. Over the past few months there have been several employees let go (including my husband this past week) - to the best of my knowledge ALL of those employees have been from the hospice company. Doesn't sound like a "merger" to me???? Right from the beginning I asked my husband, who is putting up the money for this "merger" - that is the new owner and controller! Just sayin.
Nuance bought Encompass recently, too. I heard they are buying all the eScription companies. I bet that Keystrokes gets bought by MQ soon. What the heck is going on with all these companies buying each other? Will there be anyone left? ...
Did I read a post before that mentioned that MQ might be getting bought? Does anyone have any info on that? They were referring to changes being made, and trying to decide whether to stick it out or not.
TIA! ...
I have not seen any postings on the company for a few years. I actually was hired by this company 2 years ago and quit very fast as my first few days were not impressive. Tech support not calling me back, having to keep calling them, trouble with foot pedal not working. Just curious.. ...
Absolutely Petrified....too young for Social Security; too old to change careers. Went through this a few years back and honestly can't go through it again. I don't know how some people sleep at night. ...
Has anybody worked for Alltype (Jerry Kelly) in the past in NJ? Apparently they were bought out by Medquist or M*Modal in 2012. I worked very briefly for Alltype in 2011 and then moved on to brighter horizons, although they reported to the IRS that I earned 4x what is actually on my W2 and according to my bank records. IRS needs me to contact Alltype for verification but they no longer exist (number disconnected)... so what to do? Something is very fishy and the ...
KOLKATA: CBay Systems — a leading healthcare BPO, that services nearly 40% of the US hospital market — is looking to become a $1-billion company and shift nearly half its work to India in the next two years.
******** Transferring work to India is a critical part of the strategy,” said Mr Kumar, one of the founders of the company.
This comes within days of CBay acquiring a bankrupt clinical documentation firm Spheris in the US, which, in turn, has increased CBay’s reve ...

I've sort of been out of the loop for a while at least as far as MQ's acquisitions are concerned. The last I heard was the Spheris takeover of MQ...oh, wait, that's supposed to be the MQ takeover of Spheris, right? Can anyone tell me what other companies have been purchased by MQ? Thanks! ...
working on your accounts from your bought-out company, are you consistently running out of work? We were told things would not change for a while but I'm running out of work all the time. I tried to apply for SUI this morning online but with this particular situation, I could not answer some questions to complete application so I have to go down there, which I am getting ready to do. I don't want to quit but this is getting extremely frustrating punching in and n ...
I know a lot of MT's have been forced into slavery by the Q when their company was bought out. I'm curious, how many of their promises did they live up to? I worked for them over 5 years ago but I'm sure a lot has changed since then (likely for the worse).
I've seen people on these boards saying that their pay was cut, hours/accounts changed, etc. Of course we were promised that none of that will happen! I don't believe it, but I'm curious t ...
was it before you became intwined with all the other MTs regarding working on different accounts, etc. I am wondering how long I have until I need to really find another job. I am so unhappy about the DSG buyout! But I didn't have a say in it! ...

They so far have changed payroll, but not for ICs. Now they are doing a webinar, but ICs are not included.
I'm thinking they're either going to get rid of ICs, or make us become employees or walk. Anyone have experience with MD-IT buying out the company you work for as an IC? ...

I am nervous and excited at the same time. It's been a long time since I was an employee, so it will be a change. I have a few friends who went there last year and are very happy, so I am sure it will be a good thing for all of us. The drawback is that I feel too old for change, and I know things will. ...

WMX employees are notified we will find out pay adjustments to be made as we blend in with Nuance sometime in November. Sucks... Just at holiday time.
Can you tell us, did they stick it to everyone down to the 8 and 4 cents per line?
We have found out about insurance, but like every other company the insurance is high.
We are just waiting to find out about pay. If they cut people make 9 or 10 cents per line down to 8 there are going to be some ticked off tooties. ...
