I don't have a good feeling about Medquist taking over ... because I failed their test, and then took Spheris' test and they called me. Besides, I was given practice tapes for Medquist, and I couldn't understand many of the dictators.

While MQ is the most likely buyer, because they seem to have the money (though they pay their MTs crap), nothing is final. Other companies have the opportunity to bid on this.

Why give orders to "stop jumping the gun?" What's this all about? MQ felt confident enough to send a notification to its investors. Sounds pretty serious to me.

They had a conference call today informing the employees that MQ and Cbay have purchased Spheris, MQ taking the US end and Cbay taking the overseas end. How is that jumping the gun?

MQ stated nothing was going to change for the MQ side. Yep, the CEO making more than his 9.1 million a year now. Our MT pay will probably be less than ever.

I have been reading this on MT Stars for some time, but I really thought the supervisors would have told us definitely that this was going to happen, not just let us hear it through message boards. None of the supervisors ever talked about Spheris having any money problems, but they did acknowledge in our conference call today, that this information was on the internet.

At-Home Professions gave me a set of tapes from Medquist. I couldn't understand a lot of the doctors, and this is after I started with Spheris. Spheris says I'm going to keep my same account at Scott and White.

Why in the world would they ever tell the worker bees that the company was having problems. They certainly don't want a mass exodus. They need the worker bees to be working as usual. They only fess up when the cat's outa the bag. As for keeping that same account, don't count on it for long. History repeats itself. Oh, this is just my opinion of course.

I was on that same conference call today and of course they said we'd keep our same acct....they don't want us freakin out and jumping ship and lose that Scott and White account (which is exactly what I wish would happen! Would serve Scott and White AND Spheris right for their greed!!!!

There's nothing "wrong" with their account.....I'm just an old MT who got outsourced to Spheris when S&W decided to do away with their Transcription dept and put me on this highway to hell!!!! I've only worked there since October and the supervisors there say that they are still hiring, and in fact I know people who were just hired. So since October, I didn't see any changes, since that is when I started.

Not all of us are in the same boat. Some of us have a great work flow one week and starve the next. Respect is definitely deserved but RARELY received. In fact, I have never in my entire life worked for a company with so little loyalty!

I hope other MTSOs see that overwhelming greed and consistently treating American MTs like crap leads to this! They expected my team to provide account examples ON OUR OWN TIME, to train our Indian counterparts for free! They deserve all the karma they get and all the curry they can eat.

Yes, they actually emailed my whole team and asked us to start saving examples of our transcription for "normals" and to post it in a certain place so that people could be more easily trained on the account. They made it clear it was to be done on our OWN time and in the name of camaradarie and team spirit. Blew my mind, the nerve of it!

What makes you think these were being requested specifically for India's use? IMO, that's a pretty big assumption on your part. It's standard practice to provide samples for training purposes.

Because they SAID they were using them to train our Indian counterparts, then when they got trained they turned around and took the entire account away from us and sent it to India, leaving us with no work! Obviously you have never worked at Spheris! You're making some pretty big assumptions if you think your fellow MTs are eager to train ANY coworkers for no pay. I know I most certainly am not. The management there was unbelievably top heavy - my supervisor had 2 layers of paid assistants under her, let one them look up old reports and make training templates WHILE getting paid.

Whether the samples are for India or not, instructing a team to compile samples and post them anywhere on their own time is not a reasonable request at all. If you're being asked to do some function in support of the work, whatever the nature of the work and no matter who benefits from your work, you need to be compensated for it. In this particular case, it only adds insult to injury to know that this is being done on your own time to assist someone else to be better able to slip you right on out of your job.

Hmmm....I wonder if the suits will have to train their replacements on their own time? Wonder if they need to make samples on their own time? Doubt it. Those at the top in this company take very good care of themselves and their cronies.

It is the lowly MT who carries all the burden with this company - they don't pay for half the crap they should and NOW they want you to train your replacements FOR FREE AND ON YOUR OWN TIME?

How low can one company stoop??

Has anybody worked for Alltype (Jerry Kelly) in the past in NJ? Apparently they were bought out by Medquist or M*Modal in 2012. I worked very briefly for Alltype in 2011 and then moved on to brighter horizons, although they reported to the IRS that I earned 4x what is actually on my W2 and according to my bank records. WMX employees are notified we will find out pay adjustments to be made as we blend in with Nuance sometime in November. Sucks... Just at holiday time. Can you tell us, did they stick it to everyone down to the 8 and 4 cents per line? We have found out about insurance, but like every other company the insurance is high.
