TRANSCEND BOUGHT OUT BY NUANCE - mollie

Transcend employees received notification this morning that Transcend is being bought out by Nuance. Transition expected to happen during the second half of Nuance's fiscal year 2012. Those of you with Nuance - is this a good thing?

Things have only gone downhill since Webmedx was acquired by Nuance. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

One thing I can tell you about my experience with Nuance is that they are big on your working your shift, but do not allow you to claim time spent waiting for work when none is available. Yet, they still expect you to be there. At least this is way it went for me, and I purposely worked 3rd shift, thinking this would not happen. Again, they complained when I claimed all time spent working, despite the fact that I was required to sit and wait. They sure balked when faced with the option of paying me minimum wage for my time. They seem to believe that they not required to follow labor laws. There was a lot of micromanagement going on there, and so many managers and bosses. Despite reaching their required 99% QA rating, I felt that I was never good enough. My heart goes out to all MTs who are affected by the buyout. Good luck.

Oh my goodness, I could have written that post. Exact same experiences with Nuance. Thought it was maybe only me. Exactly how I felt, never could give enough to satisfy. Always wanting more of your time for no pay and more work for less pay.

Is there much complaining from long time transcriptionists who used to make a GOOD living now not meeting the minimum full time requirements because things are as bad as they are with editing for Transcend?

Also, somebody in a previous thread said that all Nuance editors are paid the same rate, but they didn't say what that rate is. Can anybody tell us what the rate is??

You might want to consider deleting your post or asking moderator to remove before Nuance sees it if they can trace the link posted back to you. They made a very big deal about this being proprietary information and wouldn't even send us the pay rates in written form or via email. I would hate for them to come after you personally for disseminating this info. It seems totally ridiculous to me that it would be considered proprietary information, but just trying to look out for you and give you a heads up.

Wow - I was just told that for getting up at 5:00 to attending this (what sounded so utterly important) meeting we will not even be paid.

Transcend used to be such an awesome place to work with contests, incentives, kudos, friendships....now you are just a barely paid number. What a joke. Great excuse to get a fire under me and find a real job that is respectable.

WMX employees are notified we will find out pay adjustments to be made as we blend in with Nuance sometime in November. Sucks... Just at holiday time. Can you tell us, did they stick it to everyone down to the 8 and 4 cents per line? We have found out about insurance, but like every other company the insurance is high. We are just waiting to find out about pay. If they cut people make 9 or 10 cents per line down to 8 there are going to be some ticked off tooties. ...

Well, well, well. Looks like some of the Transcend QA hagathas must be QAing Nuance's work now because they are marking off for every little thing! I get marked off because I forgot to add a dash. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I was QC myself but went back to being an MT due to the low pay per hour, and I just noticed this. They want to make sure no one will ever get that bonus it looks like! ...

I formally worked for Transcend Services and would advise people not to work for this organization. They are now switching over to Nuance, but stay away from them. They are extremely critical of everything you do. This is supposedly because they think they have such high standards, but they just enjoy being mean and critical to transcriptionists, who pay everyone's salaries.
