Abandon or break very long report - not enough time before maintenance

I have a report in my queue that is 3183 seconds in length and I am currently typing a 1000-second report. When I finish my current report, I know I won't have time to type the 3000-second report before we go into maintance, and will lose it all if I tried. I know this is dictation through the whole 3000 seconds because I know who is dictating it. In 6 years, I have never abandoned or broke a report before, but I'm going to have to do so now and leave a message to my CCM. Which do I do, abandon or break? Thanks!

why not just sign off early - and not abandon or break

I would just punch out early and send CCM an e-mail explaining that you would not have time to finish before maintenance, and that you did not want to lose your lines by not finishing. Then just make up your time.

Since its still saturday where I am, I won't be able to make up the time. Unless things have changed with the new payroll schedule, timezone change, etc. I suppose I'll use pto

I think you can take PTO in 15 minute increments. You can get in trouble for abandoning it, and until you can see the second job after it, you may be stuck with another long one that will automatically download.

If you can see the job following the 3000 one, you can open the long one, break it, and then get the next one if it's short enough to finish. If that one's too long, just break the 3000 one and log off.

I've been in the same position, and usually just stall sending in the last job and then log off early. There's no graceful way to deal with this.

I've been typing this guy for years and it still feels like walking in a swamp in flppers. very, very long and very, very ESL. Most of his dictation is going back and changing paragraphs that he can't seem to word the way he wants.

Geez, I just sign out when I am done and don't worry about. I don't abandon or break jobs when I'm done. There will always be one in que, so you just sign out after you finish the last job you are going to do. If it is only going to give you 39 hours and something, that's fine. I would not email anybody, just punch out!

Have you ever used the break function simply because you had a dictator that was so horrible that you got frustrated and sent it back? I know that we are not supposed to do this and that MQ supposedly keeps track of how many breaks we use but I have to admit I have done this no occasion. I noticed today that the break pay section of the timesheet was gone today and when I clocked off a minute ago after working for 7 hours that in the "break" box, it said 0.00, when usually it would be 0.33. I don't mind having an unpaid 30-minute break, but the thing that bothers me about some of these companies is the fact that it is tiring sitting at a computer for 8 hours and getting only a 30 minute break. If I want two more 15 minute breaks those can be worked in, but then I have to add back 30 more minutes to my time! I like to at least stretch ever hour or so. :/ ...
