Wondering what the different tiers mean (like at mmodal)

Tier levels - are

based upon years experience and the ability to type multiple work types or just certain work types.

For example a Tier 1 would be someone who has only been doing transcription for maybe 1 to 2 years or someone who is only experienced in limited work types such as clinic notes, H&Ps, Consults or discharge summaries.

Tier 3 is someone who may have worked as a transcriptionist anywhere from 5 to 10+ years who is fluent or experienced in all work-types like OP notes, cardiac caths etc. and can do any work-type or specialty whethere its acute care or clinic notes.

A Tier 2 would fall between Tier 1 and 3.

How well you test. MModal is the only company I know who has tier levels. Other companies may classify their MTs differently based on their skills.

But I would think it would be based upon your test scores with the company as to what tier level they would hire you in as.

Thanks a bunch. I just graduated and a company is giving me the tier 2 test (which is weird). I started it and it seems easy enough so far, which is good because I was scared to see that the tier 1 was not an available option :)

I passed the Tier 3 test, I didn't think it was bad, I've been away from acute care for a while. The difference might be that you get operative reports to transcribe.

The company I am with requires 175 lph minimum, then if you do 275 lph you get 1/4 cent extra and then at 325 you get another 1/4. This is all straight typing. I was just informed that I HAD to tier up. Has anybody else been told that one? I don't want to tier up. I don't get much NJA and I like the accounts I work on. Do you type ALL work types, including tier 1 and tier 2, correct? My CCM implied that tier 3 does ONLY operative reports?? I'm tier 2 and I think I would like to try OP reports, as I've been tier 2 for quite a while. Don't want to NOT do consults and H&Ps though. This really sucks because those reports have the highest line counts, while Tier 3 does all the testing reports such as cardiology, eeg, cath reports, and surgeries. While straight typing pay may be higher for Tier 3, everyone makes the same for VR. My vent for the day. Sorry if I offended anyone. ...

What might be happening is MM is keeping high producing Tier 3 employees and India will get all the easier work. Tier 3's in America will do the hardest dictations and worst dictators. The MME's in America will then be correcting more work because India will be doing everything else. Just trying to figure out what is going on. I hit the ceiling last week and quit after 12 years with MQ part-time. I started as a tier 3 and ended as a tier 3. Topped out. I was making close to $20/hr and ended at $10/hr thanks to ASR. I work for another MTSO too that doesn't have the tier system. I get just whatever report comes into my job pool from clinic to ops. I've been at MQ for about 3 years now. I took the Tier 3 test and passed. Has anybody ever passed the tier 2 test?? This is my second attempt at passing it and it seems impossible. You can't slow the transcription. You can't understand the words before and after the privacy tones. It's like they don't want you to pass, succeed, and reach a higher level. My regular work reports are easier to do than anything on that test, even the ESL doctors! ...
