I hit the ceiling last week and quit after 12 years with MQ part-time. I started as a tier 3 and ended as a tier 3. Topped out. I was making close to $20/hr and ended at $10/hr thanks to ASR. My submission rate was apparently too high for them for Jan and Feb. Well, what do they expect? Shyte dictation equals shyte transcription, but I'll be damned if I am going to risk someone's life just to fill in a blank, and this was before they rolled out this "First Time Right" garbage. Reading this thread, it looks like they are making yet another attempt to screw over their employees. These people are about as sharp as marbles. Oh, but on the bright side, my accuracy is 99% to 100% and I am way over the 100 minimum lph. They are doing a great job of pushing the good ones out the door, and I let them know that and then some. I didn't give them two weeks' notice either. I quit on the spot. I just hope corporate knows their jobs aren't safe either. It will all come back to bite them in the butt. You get what you pay for and you pay for what you get. I still say this is a form of mental/emotional abuse in the workplace. Anybody want to talk about it? I'll listen.

I'm very proud of you for qutting on the spot. I'm coming "this' close, and when I go, it'll be "effective immediately." Like anyone will care.
I'm only a tier 2, and it seems to me we must have lost a ton of tier 3s. I get a lot of NJA, and when i look at the backlog list, there's plenty of work in my accounts - all op notes.

[ In Reply To ..]I'm one of the Tier 3's that left about a year after the big changes came in 06. I stuck around a year or so to see what would happen but which each subsequent change came more bad news until I couldn't take any more cuts in pay. I feel terrible for the MT's still there hoping things will get better.
I was a part of that disgrace of a class action law suit. What a joke that was. It was an insult to every MT involved.
These people are out for one thing and that is to pad their own pockets. I really do think this will come back to bite them big time. Many of their good MT's are gone, they're hiring people with little experience, now this mess taking money away from people for submitting to QA. What are they thinking? That will definitely encourage people to guess - very bad idea! That's what happens when the people making policy have never done the job.
I am so glad I left when I did. Go ahead and bash me for coming back to this site to check on things. I tried to encourage people having a hard time to leave a while ago; and as for those who think they have it so good, give it time. Eventually their greedy new schemes to get rich off the MT's backs will affect you too.
And one other thing, does anyone remember what happened when C-Bay bought Heartland? It was just a matter of time until all their MT's/QA's were laid off. History repeats itself, you know. MQ is a bigger company, more loose ends to tie up before switching over their work force but sooner or later it's bound to happen. Oh, this is all just my opinion, of course.

I was just informed that I HAD to tier up. Has anybody else been told that one? I don't want to tier up. I don't get much NJA and I like the accounts I work on. I was told that I MIGHT get a raise if I did, but there was no guarantee. Why would I want to tier up without getting a raise doing the next tier's work? I just don't get it and I never will. ...

Do you type ALL work types, including tier 1 and tier 2, correct? My CCM implied that tier 3 does ONLY operative reports?? This really sucks because those reports have the highest line counts, while Tier 3 does all the testing reports such as cardiology, eeg, cath reports, and surgeries. What might be happening is MM is keeping high producing Tier 3 employees and India will get all the easier work. Tier 3's in America will do the hardest dictations and worst dictators. Has anybody ever passed the tier 2 test?? This is my second attempt at passing it and it seems impossible. You can't slow the transcription. You can't understand the words before and after the privacy tones. It's like they don't want you to pass, succeed, and reach a higher level. My regular work reports are easier to do than anything on that test, even the ESL doctors! ...
