My company is asking us to volunteer to put in extra hours, so our offshore partners can enjoy their 4 day holiday. Puhleese people don't do it. You might make some extra money, but you are selling us out.

that I quit working for Mediscribes of Louisville. I will never work for an Indian company again. They got the hospical account, took the transcriptionists from the hospital and hired other American transcriptionists to get the account. As they trained the Indian transcriptionists the work kept disappearing. At the end, what little work you did get was the really awful dictators the Indians couldn't do. What I really couldn't stand though was the three American women who supervised J, K and J. They know what is going to happen to the American MTs, and still work for the company. The only fun part was after I quit working they still had me on the e-mail list. The batch of horrendous hospital complaints was so much fun to read. I never worked extra for their holidays...I never got time off for ours.

They work to cover YOUR holidays and weekends, they also work the crap schedules that no one else wants. I'm an American but there are 2 sides to every story. Personally, I'd take the overtime.

We all have to work 1 weekend day, so we cover our own weekends. I'm lucky if I get 2 approved holidays off a year, and India has many, many more holidays than we do. Do a Google search. You will be astounded. The old saying that "lack of planning on your part (MTSO) does not constitute an emergency on my part (MT)" really applies here. What gets my goat is that they had the nerve to ask us to work overtime to help out our offshore buddies. If they were asked to do the same for us, I think they would be rolling on the floor laughing their bums off.

They NEVER covered ANY holidays for us and I ALWAYS had to work weekends and holidays. Their crap shedules? Do you not know about time zones? I was also told the Indians never work nights.

OVERTIME...OVERTIME? They only hire IC and there was NO EXTRA pay for weekends or holidays.

They work to cover OUR holidays? We don't - GET any holidays!

I worked for one of the largest, well-known MTSOs with the majority of their employees based offshore. They cover our weekends and holidays so we US MT can have them off? You can't possibly be serious. Or have no knowledge of the current industry.

The last time we had an offer to work extra 8 hour blocks of time over an extended weekend, I did 16, yes 16 extra hours!!! And this time, I put in for 8 extra hours. So I will have an extra 3 days PTO as a result. Since this is my first year with this company I am getting not much PTO and this will be a nice extra 3 days off. I will not cut off my nose to spite my face....

but short sighted. By enabling offshoring of our work, you are indeed shaving a little bit off your nose every time you do. You've got to look at the big picture.

They make us work our holidays, but they LET the offshore MTs work on our holiday so we get to sit here with no work while the rest of the family either carries on without us, or waits around for our shift is over.

It is extremely easily to apply for unemployment insurance. Medquist has not fought one single claim to date. I think everybody should start trusting the government a little more! Medquist got in trouble for legal reasons not because somebody said something bad about them. You have to train full time to qualify for TAA. They pay you while you train, but face it, at some point to go to school full time....you might have to quit the Q! Who you gonna trust? ...

around this time in the afternoon, yesteryear...I would take a look at my line count. It might read 2500 or so...I might decide to take a hiking, biking or swim break and if I chose, come back later at night and add another 1000 into the mix for the day...that would be a $350.00 day. I figure if I show up for work every day, do everything I have to do without complaining, sometimes extra when asked, always make 99% or better on QA, then I should be considered for MT of the year, yet somehow imagine my name never even comes up when they are considering. I also work for another company who has started docking pay for another issue and just wonder what other companies out there are doing this as I am ready to find a new company to work for. Rarely are they taking 1/2 the time of straight typing. The majority are taking at least as long as it would to straight type and some more time. This is all due to the number of corrections and punctation and formatting I have to do! ...
