Oracle Falsely advertising - concerned

I was promised I would be hired because I was very valuable with my experience. I have been un unemploment for and it will end in two weeks. Oracle promised me a job when it was up and told me to contact them. I contacted them last week and told them I cold start December 20. They proceeded to tell me that they could not hire me now because they recently hired 6 new people and they workload was low. I knew something was fishy about all of this so I left it go until I noticed the first job seeking board on MTStars is their company seeking full time and part time employees with immediate openings. I couldn't believe it so I called and talked to their HR person and she said they can't hire me now because I'm stlll on UE and I told her I was going to have those benefits stopped and she argued with me about it and said you will get it again!!! I feel they have discriminated against me totally and lied to me all because I'm on unemployment!! How unethical and just wrong! Shame on them! She even said can't you find work somewhere else because someone else will hire you because your on umeployment.

telling the employer that you wanted to ride it out until your UE benefits expired. I hope you didn't think you had to do that. UE wants to get you off their rolls as soon as possible. If Oracle had offered you a job, you should have taken it then and there and let unemployment know and they would have stopped your UE benefits. You made yourself look like you were milking the UE system, and I'm sure Oracle was not impressed.

Of course you can be hired if you are on unemployment. I was for 2 months and got hired by a MTSO. I suppose I could have waited until my X number of weeks' benefits ran out, but I grabbed a job while there were still some left.

Never collected benefits... even infused IV antibiotics from home during several postop infections, so I could keep working and after several surgeries just so prospective employers or clients would not see a gap in my work history. I have never had any problems obtaining jobs even when my largest client went EMR, so I do not understand all the posts I read. I agree with the other poster... should have started the position there and then and not say anything about waiting for UE benefits to end. That does not give a good impression at all.

I find myself slightly unsympathetic to the OP. If you don't know how unemployment works, it is your duty to find out. You do not stay on UE until it runs out, they tend to make that pretty clear. If you get a good job offer, you take it immediately.

Also, I find it extremely hard to believe someone who works in HR would tell someone that they can't hire you until your UE runs out. That is absurd.

You accepted the job right then and there and contacted your UE office that you are now employed and stop the benefits. I agree with the other posters. So how is this the company's fault when you stated you could not start until after your benefits had run out when you were hired and now did not need them?

You still have time left on UE, so I would brush up on grammar and punctuation and whatever other skills necessary while searching for other jobs. The next time, I would accept immediately, and then contact UE.

as a vacation fund for personal time off. When a person does this, it unnecessarily strains the system. Please don't abuse unemployment benefits.

I took their test and passed. I emailed them several times. They contacted me once and said they were filling full time positions first (I want part time to begin because I want to see before I commit to 40 hours a week if I can make money).
