Are you kidding me, with Softscript still advertising for hiring. I HAVE HAD NO WORK FOR ALMOST A MONTH. This is ridiculous. I cannot believe they have no respect for their loyal employees and are still hiring when there is no work.

First, I was training and they kept switching accounts, then they blamed the holidays, and now they blame the weather. Guess MLK Day and Valentine's Day will be the next excuses.

It IS very irritating to see them continually advertise, especially stating there is an abundance of work. I have to lie on my time sheet so I meet their production standards, which disqualifies for benefits. It's a stinky deal all of the way around.

Actually things were going okay after I first hired on with Softscript. That is, until I started approaching the 3 month mark at which point I would have qualified for benefits. It was at that point that I started getting so little work that I could no longer make the minimum. In my opinion, I believe this was done on purpose.

I have suspected that too .. and they will probably torpedo my sign on bonus sm - SSMT

if I'm stupid enough to stay 6 months. At this point I am so fed up and disgusted, if they gave me a million dollars, I would just be mad it wasn't 2 million .. LOL.

They wanted to know if I had taken the test they sent. I said no and I wasn't going to. They are actively pursuing applicants, just so those of you who work for them know. Sorry. I got scared off with all the weird comments about them.

I had offers from 3 other companies, and they might have turned out to be just as bad, but I am thinking I probably chose the worst of the bunch. The dilemma now is do I move on and cut my losses or believe their promises of "it will get better" and hang in there. If it wasn't for my other part time jobs, I would be in a major world of hurt financially.

I graciously backed out of accepting their offer after reading so many posts about there being no work there. Even though just part-time, I need the supplemental income, not to be chained to my computer for 4-8 hours a day trying to squeeze out enough lines to get by.

Yes, they are actively recruiting and hiring; we're both proof of it. It just doesn't seem to fair to their MTs who are already without work.

They only hire for 2nd shift and that is to do the leftover, picked-through work from 1st shift. There is no way to make good money going this, though they give you a month to get up to 135 lph, which at 8.5 cpl is a whopping 11.48/hour. While searching for another transcription job, I came across a company I had never heard of before, "The Right Thing" based in "Findley, Ohio." I thought this could be great, instead of staying with MedQuist offering the "Wrong Thing." I decided to look into it, and it was actually a Medquist advertisement! I took their test and passed. I emailed them several times. They contacted me once and said they were filling full time positions first (I want part time to begin because I want to see before I commit to 40 hours a week if I can make money). I have worked for a teaching hospital for 30 years. Oh well. If they contact me now, I'll say "NO, THANK YOU!!" ...
