Okay, isn't it odd that two weeks ago Landmark had an ad for psych transcriptionists and got over 1400 hits on that one ad.  Now they have an ad for acute care MT's.  Didn't they get enough applications two weeks ago?  BTW, did anyone even hear  from them about the Psych positions?

Just because they got hits doesn't mean they had that many applications. I don't know what to expect out of these companies lately. I would love to just get out and tell 'em all where to go.

of months ago via email-see archives in about August. Currently employed there and couldn't get enough work to keep me busy so had to get another job-now hiring??????? Very haphazard management, no rhyme or reason to job assignments, and still can't figure out why since they can't keep the MTs they have working, are they are hiring more?????? I figure they overhire and it doesn't matter to them who gets the work, they overstaff the accounts to get it done in TAT. Be ready to be without work a LOT.

I don't get it. What is going on there? I work there and am on an account where they seem to ask for extra, especially on the weekends and yet other people have NJA. I have a feeling they are asking for MT's for the account I am on to cover the TAT. I makes me wonder if they are going to get new MT's and then get rid of the MT's they do not like and lay off again or cut our pay. I wonder if I should be nervous about my job.

you nuts! I have begged for more work on the accounts they are hiring for (psych and acute care) only to either not even get that account or to keep running out and then see ads for hiring of 5/10 more MTs!

For all of the na sayers that I must be a bad transcriptionist, I have over 30 years so I DO know what I am doing. They cut pay in August (some by 2 cents a line, which is huge) and laid off several and I was sure they were going down so got another job FT to wait it out with them PT so they weren't my main income, now hiring for accounts that MTs are begging for work on because they are running out. My thoughts are something is coming down the pike like it did in August, so just hold your breathe it doesn't have anything to do with you is the best I can tell you. One person runs this show and it makes NO SENSE WHATSOVER??????

I came on the boards after a couple year absence to see if anybody here was experiencing the same thing at Landmark as me and didn't see much of anything so I thought it was just me! I've had no work constantly. They've ignored my requests to be put on other accounts,and then there was the humiliation of the sudden pay cut last month and I was unable to take my pride and leave...YET they're hiring. I've recently come close to losing my home. I just had my elecricity disconnected today and had to scramble to get that turned back on. I log in a few hours ago, get 2 reports and then the work ran out again. I'm sick I tell you. I'm sick at heart. I hate this profession with a passion. It is not a profession. It has been reduced to slave labor. People think we are just malingering but it's true. I used to make 20/hr in the hospital and now I make 10 a day. I can't live like this. I found a second job finally to supplement LM and guess what? No work there. I've gone back to school to train for another job but I'm 1-1/2 years out from getting my degree. I can't wait until the day I can kiss this chapter of my life goodbye. In the meantime, I feel forced to take my chances with another one of these companies until I get through school because there are NO local jobs - it's all outsourced to these services that treat us less than human. They want us to be "employee" status and I have no idea why? The commitment only goes one way - their way. They have no obligation or commitment to us. For part time there is no PTO, no benefits whatsoever and no work anyway, so why not just hire a bunch of ICs to start with if we are going to treated that way? and they keep on hiring and keep on hiring and keep on hiring.... I realize the economy is bad but corporate greed caused the crash in the first place and it seems that corporate greed with keep on until the whole economy just collapses. Enough of my vent for the day. Just a bad day. As angry and frustrated as I am at the companies and the greedy corrupt industry as a whole, I am more angry at myself that I actually let myself get into a situation where 15 years invested in a career led to the situation I was in today. I can't pay my bills...can't afford groceries. I feel like Scarlet O'Hara clutching a handful of dirt saying "God help me, I will never go hungry again". I'm determined to get out of this field, the faster the better. May God help us all in the meantime.

I was just wondering the same thing. After applying for this company 2 weeks ago, this lady emailed me last week and asked if I was still interested in the position. I told her yes. She asked me when I could start. I told her my hours and days. We decided on a line rate, and then did not hear anything back from her. After 3-4 days, I emailed her back and asked her if she was still interested, and never heard a thing. I have 12+ years psych experience. Now she has an add online. Weird!

First, I just want to preface this by saying it was *my* experience with LM and is nothing personal per se with regards to any of the owners or management or QA, just my perspective of my own situation.

I hired on and was very excited, because I had read glowing reviews here and on other boards about LM. The owner who contacted me was polite, seemed well-organized, and made me an immediate offer so I could start to work that very day. I was assigned 2 accounts; 1 primary and the other backup.

Well, the "primary" account turned out to be one of their infamous "overflow" accounts. There was rarely work on there and, if there WAS work, it was the sorriest of the sorry ESL dictators. Nearly impossible to understand or even decipher with the aid of multiple sample reports. I've been doing this for 25 years and have mastered just about every dialect/accent/mumble-ease known to the human race but these dictators? No clue why they were so danged impossible to understand.

As there was usually no work on my primary account, I'd then proceed to my backup account. This was an account I would have LOVED...had it not been for the atrocious audio quality. Even with all volume settings jacked up to the highest degree possible, my husband sitting silently and reading, the TV and every other environmental sound silenced, I could BARELY hear these dictators. No ESL, sounded as if they would be GREAT dictators...if the MT could actually hear them dictating. I asked at least 4-5 times if there was anything I could do on my end to improve the clarity and volume; I asked if LM could ask the client to check their settings to see if the volume problem was on their end. Heck, I would have done cartwheels throughout my entire house if ANYONE had bothered to answer my emails.

I had been offered another position when I accepted the LM position, so I picked up my toys and moved along to the next job. Although I have seen people here rave about the QA person there and how fantastic she is, I found her to be adequate but nothing particularly special. It's not that she was rude or anything, but I also didn't feel it was very professional of her to ignore my questions regarding the audio quality of my backup account, so perhaps I'm a bit jaded with regards to her. The silence was a lot more disrespectful than a reply indicating nothing could be done about the audio and to just suck it up and do my best, at least in my opinion.

Anyway, as I said, just my personal experience with Landmark and I'm sure others have done just fine with them; however, based on the fact that many of their accounts are simply overflow accounts, perhaps that is the reason for the lack of work on existing accounts. If the client's workload is slow, perhaps the client's in-house MTs are gobbling up more of the daily dictations. Perhaps LM's services were no longer needed if the in-house staff could keep up with the flow. Or perhaps, just perhaps, they're in negotiations for a buy-out. Inexplicably running out of work is increasingly noted on these boards to be an omen of a pending announcement, so if I still worked for LM, I'd be sure to keep my eyes and ears open for any rumblings.

Good luck to all the LMers left there. I know in spite of all the good things I had read about LM on these boards, they were most assuredly not a good fit for me.

I love my account and platform but it's time to move on. This treatment is demoralizing. I'm not a person who likes to change jobs and hop around but what people who do not work in this field do not realize is that it has been reduced to what I would compare to migrant farm workers - harvest the crop and move on...

As for LM, yes they're "nice", on the surface, but would truly "nice" people run a business with total disregard for their employees? I think not.

Yep, that's how I felt, too. I felt totally disregarded/disrespected in that no one would even acknowledge the problems I was having with the audio on my backup account. Also, it was really hammering my productivity because each report took at least twice as long as it should have, because I had to listen and re-listen to every single one of them just to try to hear everything and make sure I left nothing out.

I figured if they had no concern for my concern, I was better off elsewhere where at least my efforts would be respected.

They do handle some things quite oddly for some inexplicable reason.

an email that their line rate is immediately reduced by 1 or 2 cents, that off of low pay to start with is demoralizing. Why not just say in the interview, "Oh, by the way, can you work for nothing." This company tells you a great line rate to get you, then sends an email and reduces it-oops, sorry, we made a mistake, not in our budget. It also has mostly overflow work so don't expect to make much with that and the low pay!

The owners are married, have another house elsewhere. Does not seem that they really run the business other than a hobby, especially the lady who loves to hire in between other things. They have a QA lady who runs the show who is so tired from home-education 2 children, teaching a class in MT out of her house, etc., that you cannot get any communication whatso ever. The QA person who is running the show is she lucky to call you in 2 weeks and the owner keeps hiring.
